err, heres a link just for starters
nowhere near as big here as in the US, but a lot of interest . . .
https://www.vicnotill.com.au/2017/03/keeping-soil-alive/

They have a great FB page too (y)
Seems a really concentrated effort 'across the ditch', good to see. Quite surprised at their findings on sheep as part of the operation... I suppose it's the very low covers?
Farmer Roy, can you get access to cattle on the 100 day plan they mention? Could be a cheap way to give your other block a "kick-start"?

'Don't wait for someone to tell you..'. (y)

That's the thing most farmers need to grasp about regenerative ag, nobody is going to tell you to change.
No government in their right mind will force this (in the foreseeable future) because it admits their own shortcomings across decades.
It has to be led by the farmer, for the farmer, and the future farmers!!
Half the world's topsoil has gone into oceans and waterways in 150 years of "doing it the proper way"... yet it's growing 10mm/year here..

Yes, quite possibly with the cattle.
Water infrastructure is a big problem & it does appear as if my current water source is under threat in a year or 2 . . .

FB is a great tool & source of information - I don't understand why some people are so "scared" of it . . .

No chem or fert or agri industrial company, or Ag resellers or "sales" agronomists are going to undertake any research or trials either . . .
That's the thing I've been bashing my head against the wall trying to get these whinging pommie ba stards to understand - all this stuff is FARMER driven, as its farmers who are literally at the coal face of increased input costs, soil / environmental degradation, climate change etc etc etc LONG before the general population or govts are affected . . .

For a government to suddenly do a 180° on what type of Ag to promote, endorse (and sponsor, probably)- is basically an admission of guilt - encouragement of damaging the land resources.
So it simply won't happen..

Nor do any fert companies want you to understand that by feeding denitrifying microbes you're making your land increasingly hungry for more solubles in the future.
I'm just fortunate I bought the farm off an "early adopter" and the hard yards were already done for us.

Been some talk of a tax on nitrogen fertilizer over here as its damaging to the enviroment. They were mostly talking water as its easy for them to measure that and show it but soil health too. I dont know how serious the talks were though but it wouldnt suprise me at all if it happened.

A deeply interesting 'idea' which is what I'm aiming to emulate here.
Unfortunately our climate doesn't lend itself to pasture dormancy but I'll continue to experiment with autumn-sown pea/clover crops until I get it right.

Yeah, we don't get pasture dormancy either, apart from a "lack of moisture" dormancy. If we have moisture ( our biggest limiting factor ) we have virtually year round growth

I think most farmers (in the world) are still in this mode:
