Some minor changes

Just playing with some changes to the forum navigation, if things get a bit jumbled up temporarily this will be why ! you might see them come and go a bit over the next few days ! when working right hovering over with a mouse should reveal what each does (not done that yet though!)

I want to simplify the top menu navigation bar, there are lots of things on there than according to the database noone ever uses or if they do its very infrequent, I also want make navigation between Farm Marketplace, TFF classifieds and the forum more joined up

As a start we are going to add the 3 buttons above for TFF home page, Classifieds Home Page and Farm Marketplace home page

my question is what other menu functions would you class as essential and want to see a navigation button for ?

My initial thoughts are "new posts" "Directory" (soon to be renamed "company pages" and a separate free "contractor directory" section) "news and blogs" then all the rest still available but not as buttons just a simple menu for them as they are now

Doing this is going to help us with a long overdue and essential forum update and hopefully freshen things up a bit without changing stuff for change sake making the forum a bit more user friendly on tablets and mobile devices as well

if we dont like it it can always be changed back

feedback please ? mostly on what buttons you would like to see ?

Hate it already @Clive "END OF" :(

i expect everyone will, forum members away hate any change, but quickly get used to it, give it a month and if we removed the buttons there would be outcry :ROFLMAO:

but things have to evolve so we can add extra features, to stand still is to go backwards

I think we need to resize the mobile version. other than that it makes navigation between here, marketplace, classifoeds snd soon to come weather and markets pages a lot easier and clearer

TFF Home button is now "new posts" as suggested

looking into the suggested "top" button now and reducing icon sizes on mobile devices

Seem to be getting logged out after looking at a few pages on classifieds now.
On a windows mobile.

nothing in this change will have caused that, more likely down to settings on your device ? what are you using (device / browser ?)

classifieds is a going to be replaced, (this side of Christmas I hope) its not a well written bit of software, we can do far better now

As noted before this phone is groaning under the weight of not much spare memory left and it may be that.
As for browser, no idea, it's what came with a windows phone and TFF has a button on the home screen.
Not aware of it happening before the changes though.

TFF in a browser will use no more of your phone's resource than any other webpage, nothing changed here that should affect your device.

The new buttons are too big on the phone imho. When you're at the top of the thread etc it uses 1/3 of the screen!

They simply look disproportiate and clunky as they are - can they shrink a bit in the wash please? :D

Far too big on the phone :poop:

agree - fix will be rolled out ASAP along with the page "top" button requested above
