McCormick Mc115 Viscous fan drive fault

Our 05 plate Mc115 viscous fan drive coupling (original) recently gave up. Replaced with new Sparex part on a Fri afternoon. Following day the fan stopped working again causing tractor to overheat. All pulleys and belts turning as should be. Replaced it with another Sparex coupling and has been fine (two weeks work) until today just general feeding loader work the amber light on dash came up to warn me realised tractor temp gauge was on red jumped out while tractor running opened bonnet viscous fan not turning. Any one else had similar issues?

Get a fixed hub unit......were all gradually upgraded to this in NZ, especially if working in Central Otago in the South Island - where temps can get to high 30's

I'd of said the sparex fan units are no good ... things can be cheap for a reason ! Genuine one from mcc is £304 retail maybe get it cheaper on a stock order form your dealer . You can blot it up solid but not ideal on that size of tractor as they do consume some horses when running flat out and you could feel a power drop . The other option could be the radiator is internally blocked so the fan isn't sensing the heat and not kicking in but even then it should never stop it should always spin and give some draft. If you get it warm again feel the outside of the radiator all over the face check its an even temperature all over but warmer at the top than the bottom. [emoji6]

Thanks for that. I actually had the rad tested back end of July at Rickets radiators Swansea and was working as good as a new one . The Sparex part has all the same markings as the old genuine one? Surely McCormick or Sparex don't make these? Don't want to spend the extra £120 to find genuine has same problem?

£120 is a lot cheaper than the cost of a new engine.

Well there is surely no other reason why it would stop unless it's faulty if the hubs spinning but the fan ain't ?
Maybe there is a faulty batch of them ?
Maybe sparex ones are made to a less quality to genuine ones ?

By the time it's been changed 3 times the extra money has all been accounted for .
