not really helping you in your quest but maybe in a round about way, i just happened to be watching this video on a nail removal tool, pallets came to mind as i watched it , if you wanted to remove some nails to make kindlin.

there's always someone thinking....

I run them through a bloody great rip saw could have done 3 while he was messing about with that contraption making blanks into kindling for selling is a labour intensive job many have tried and shortly given up to fill a bag you need to disassemble the pallet then make the blanks into kindling then bag them then sell them then deliver them good luck with it

I've done a few hundred last few year
they were delivered free
the guys stopped coming with them don't think that im that bothered yet
I use rough handy chain saw to get them handy. buy cheap chains , ebay
then evolution table saw , which will cut anything.
our lasses dad has helped a lot , done hundreds too , he used lumps of wood as leavers , prob 3x2 .
I bought a 4 ft wrecking bar to try leavers , did about 3 then reached for the saw .
evolution skill saw will do it but can kick badly. set blade as shallow as poss.
if u pull them apart u will have nails stuck out to stab u , with chain saw less so.
mine came from a stone yard so covered in sand designed to kill wood working equipment .
if u can get clean pallets id say chain saw .but don't disrespect a stihl on such a shitty job .

This is the one occasion where I'd probably try an electric chainsaw. Constantly moving or rotating pallets and not having to worry about leaving a saw running or having to stop start and dealing with smaller wood is probably ideal for electric chainsaws.

There is some truth
And i own a few . Handy inside a building as no exhaust and quiet
But i never liked how u touch the trigger and it runs
U know if the engines running on a conventional chainsaw
But cheap to buy no fuel to mix there are plusses
The wire does get in the way
