Can you still get parts for them?
they were made by grass drying plant staff in the winter months from standard gearboxes / belts etc. blades are available from spaldings but other makes fit.
its had new bearings on the drums in the last five years and a new belt ( £ 45) last year.
we just use it for topping in the last few years since we started using contractors for silage which is why we are selling it.
stored inside and has topping skids on. leaves 2-3 '' with them off it bottoms the field.

They are bloody excellent mowers, you can mow as fast as you can stay in the seat and it will cut clean. It will need at least 100hp on it preferably 120-30 to get the best out of it. Built like no other mower, I think they were done for airfields originally. Is it 10 blades per drum? Memory is a bit hazy on that.

I'd have bought it if you were in Kent.

I think it's 6 per drum but they go so fast when you stop the pto you can go and have a cup o tea come back and it's just stopped

We tried one in the eighties and couldn't get it to start without stalling the tractor. We had it on a Marshall 100 and the only way we could start it was to put the PTO in gear before starting the engine. Cracking mower when it was going though.

Had to pulse it in on the 3080, once running brilliant. Now with the soft starts on ptos there shouldn't be a problem.

talk to terry at k two ,think he had some thing to do with them ,

is it on toothed belts
I had one of the first K2 mowers. It was based on a similar design as the Grasshopper, and Terry used to work for them.
I remember at the time Grasshopper tried to sue him for copying it, but he had proof that Grasshopper itself copied an East European design.

As to the K2 mower, not their most glorious hour!
