Annoyingly my not very old Draper multimeter has died. Just went to use it and it wouldn't go, either I did something stupid or damp got it.
It was same as this one,

I've had the really cheap ones in the past too and they have also died.

So any recommendations? Is there a decent brand that won't break the bank.?
Just need basic voltage, diode, resistance, continuity, with beeper or buzzer. Mains voltage would also be pretty much a must too

If not the battery, loads of choice on Ebay/Amazon. A Workzone one from Aldi has been in regular outdoors use and can't fault it. Don't need laboratory accuracy.

Trouble with those us that they all too often decide to show the wrong thing - I might be interested in the ripple on a DC supply, but because the DC is dominant, that's what it shows so you have to override the settings, so you might as well have a conventional or basic autoranging meter.

Get a cheapie fluke. A 101 is a decent meter, but has no current measurement. Not offfically released in the uk, more for the Asian market, they are advertised on the fluke Hong Kong website for example. The only issue is how to tell if you’re getting a genuine one. Some on eBay for £35

Fluke. You do pay a lot for the name, but they are damn fine, well designed and well built instruments that will last ages.

I’m not sure of any budget brands that I’d stick my neck out for. I do still have my Appa from student days but not sure if they were sold in the UK.

I've recently bought one of these. From Amazon here.

Not used it much yet but am impressed with it so far and for the price.
