Anyone got any tips/advice on how to get the best deal, both mine and wife phone contracts are due for renewal and i want a better deal, been a vodafone customer for 20 years but don't suppose customer loyalty means much ! Any help they need to be on 02/voda as they are the only networks that have good signal here, also both need new phones (iphones only) any help would be good

On ee here and have 12 month sim only contract, unlimited calls and texts along with 4gig data for £9.99 per month. This is with a loyalty discount.
They didn't offer me this, I had to call ee and ask for a better deal.

I've always found EE to be open to negotiation at renewal. The Prices on the screen when I logged in to look at renewal deals were laughable as were the deals in the EE Shop.

Over the phone when looking to leave they happily come down and below to other deals out there

For some reason there is no two people in the country that have the same contract regardless of the provider.

My advice is to do a 'chat' with an online advisor and play one network off the other.

The worst they can say is no.

It's surprising how you can beat them down on a one to one basis.

Hi Landrover,

We are a independent company that offer all major networks. We look after all the bill and tech support from our office in Gloucestershire. If you want to let me know what you are after I can put a quote together for you.

Many Thanks

Easy.

Go into a phone shop. Buy the new handsets you want, (let the company pay for them), using a credit card.

Then go on a sim-only tariff for whatever required minutes/month you need. An advisor from O2 or whoever will be able to tell you what minutes you have used per month just looking at their system and advise.

Most mobile contracts are over 24 months- premium handsets (which I grant you many people do not want or need) will be circa £40/month at least. 24 x 40= £960. For a phone you can buy on the shelf today for probably £400.

Lots of money being made in the mobile phone world. A half decent Samsung handset, in a case, will last 5 years and you will be paying £10-15 a month at most unless you are a heavy user.

Business deals can be even more cut-throat, they will need to know your estimated annual usage though.

Beware data plans, they are quite easy to go over the monthly limit. Same with roaming abroad.

For years I have been buying phones and using sim only contacts which was considerably cheaper. But this time I went into an EE shop and they said I was also looking to change landline/broadband providers I got much better mobile deal out of them on the back of that which ment that the sim only deal was no longer any cheaper and had a few less perks so I’ve ended up on a full contact this time.

Some current promos from Vodafone; 12 month, SIM only deals. Speak to retentions team:

Unlimited calls/texts 8 GB data - £14.40 inc.
Unlimited calls/texts 20 GB data - £16.00 inc.

Comparable EE sim only deal “Max Plan” was 12 GB for £15.99 inc.

Sky have a decent deal... If you have Sky TV.

Mum wanted unlimited minutes after a school reunion and tracking down a brother after 40 odd years.

Sky unlimited minutes and texts 500gb data doubled to 1gb on their current offer for £5 per month.

Granted the Data is pretty small but her world and friends aren't all in the internet and she won't use hardly any data at all as it will connect to the Wi-Fi most of the time.

Uses the 02 network and so far so good.

I cancelled my EE Sim only contract a couple of years ago, and moved to Virgin at half the price (still on EE network). PlusNet Mobile are now offering an even better deal, still on EE's network.

A couple of days ago I cancelled my wife's EE Sim only contract to move to PlusNet for about 1/4 of the price (£5/month rather than £19.44), and went to cancel my Virgin contract to do the same. Virgin have bought my loyalty though, by offering a 4G monthly rolling contract with 2500 mins, 2GB data & unlimited texts for a fiver a month.

I enquired whether they would match that deal if I moved my wife's phone there too, and they bettered it again. She'll be on a 4G contract, 1500 mins, 5GB of data and unlimited texts for a fiver too.

That'll do for me.(y)
