The drawbar swing ram on a John Deere 1360 mower conditioner is like that.
We could swap some sunshine for a little cold and rain. Bloody warm this week.
I have a ram like that on a farmhand grapple, blooming thing, always leaking, it had a copper ring at either end acting as the seal, they were always going hard, splitting, coming out etc. closely followed by hydraulic oil of course.
I’m sure it is fine, it’s just unusual to see a hydraulic ram with tie rods on the outside like that. I’ve definitely seen them like that, but it’s not a common design now, at least not in this part of the world.....
I never bothered painting the frame does that make it more acceptable
