Just after some information on a Colin’s teleshift. My friend has one at his livery yard, being asked if I can take a look at it.

-Hydraulics are very slow I’ve had a look around it. Looks like the hydraulics are piped into the front axle. (Built on a ford backend)

-I’ve looked under the footplates in the cab. Came across one dipstick. Is this for the torque converter ? Or is this the transmission/hydraulic dipstick.

-What oil is required?

Cheers

I doubt the T/ C oil would be the same as the drive axle. The former would be very light and possibly red.
So this early model did not have separate hydraulics, where all the Collins like that?

That will be for the torque converter. Get me some more pictures or pm me. I have vast knowledge of these machines, not sure if it’s a good thing or bad thing?!

Ooh, you could be my new best friend! Or at least someone whose brain I could pick? I bought a Teleshift TS230 on an old A reg (1983?) to do a couple of small regular lifting jobs - it fits into my shed more easily than other machines I looked at. Filler cap on front axle seems to be for gearbox AND hydraulics - is that right and which oil should be used? Any info gratefully received thank you. Ideally I'd source a manual...

I've had the same hydraulics issue with mine...
checked the usual filters etc
Even replaced the pump but it made no difference

Turned out to be the pressure relief valve on the spool block... unscrew it, and clean thoroughly with brake cleaner etc.. making sure to push the plunger and get any crap out of it..

When I put mine back in I couldn't believe the difference..
;)
She's some machine now !
