pancakes, sprinkled with sugar and drizzled with rasperry vinegar. takes me back to being a little lad helping my mother make and cook them on the aga with my faithful dog sat in the old chair nearby out of the draught coming under the door , ah memories

i thought shrove tuesday and lent had a very practical point for ancient ppls.....the end of winter but food is short.....so have a bit of a blow out on remaining food then fast/give up stuff til first new foods become available...tie it into religon for provenace and jobs a good un
