Any idea what Rugby is like for mule wethers? Never been there before and I have a load to send.

Think they can belly clip there the night before too?

You need to make a stand when it comes to belly clipping. To be honest I did wince a bit today, mine did look dirty compared to the majority but when they want them they’re not fussy.

Make a stand?

I sold some suff x and chev x stores today. Did ok but I reckon being dirty underneath from the turnips took a few quid off what they should have made. Being longer woolled types the mule werhers are dirtier still.

What I mean is that it would be far easier on all concerned, cheaper, more efficient and humane if they were clipped when they were hung up. When there are too many sheep about the specs tighten, buyers get fussier over fleeces, bellies etc. When they are short we should try to roll back a bit.

I bet you only winced when you heard the hammer falling at such high prices :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Joking aside farmers should not be forced to clip either cattle or sheep, it should be done on the line, from a health and safety view point there is no way clipping cattle in a crush would pass a safety assessment if farmers carried out one! ( which really they should )

I know a big dealer up here, who buys a lot of older ewes in the Autumn, then sells the lot six weeks before they lamb, he says he always makes money on them, even with some dead ones and sales the yields on a fat day. No fancy dear tups just run of the mill texels

It surprises me that he makes money on them regularly, given that they look a good buy at the minute.
