Has welding directly to the freeflow tine been successful or brought about tine failure due to the weld or due to the extra force involved in direct drilling.
I am considering welding a bracket directly to the tine to take a narrow low disturbance point and seed tube holder
I have not had any breakages.
Metcalfes now make a point that will bolt to the existing tine .

Just working on making my own simba free flow point drawn it on cad got the bits laser cut out the hole lot cost £100 so cheep as chips to make your own I've got to hard face them next. Then work out how to get the seed in the narrow slot. Hummmm

Any chance of seeing a picture of your point? As for hard facing check out ferobide supplied by Spaldings never yet tried it the sample still sits on my desk!

Very good far simpler than i was planning. How about a tube for seed delivery fitting inside the delivery hose and squashed to narrow down at soil level. What thickness is your point.

12mm + hard facing 13-15 mm yes not sure about seed delivery doesn't look right needs some improvements on that. Thinking should of extended the piece at the bottom on a angle then welded some squashed tube as you suggested with slot at the back.

DocFile (2).jpg Looking good. The design in my head and on various scraps of paper in my office uses a part worn miniflow point down the front of the freeflow tine with a profiled 8 mm wide point welded to that the limitation of such a narrow point would be wheat seed would be the largest seed you could get in the slot.

Yes Metcalfe maybe the best but if you get a price your know y we make out own. I think the price of 2 or 3 Metcalfe points will be what it cost to make 32 of my own
