Once in started lambing hands have started to get dry and cracked. Down side of hand and between knuckles. Been using hand cream stuff each time I come inside but be washing my hands a lot during days. Wear gloves while lambing a sheep but bare hands when doing all rest jobs as never really used to gloves before. Any ideas or is it just from washing hands so often ?

I'm no expert, but looks like an allergy/reaction to gloves/hand cream to me. Are you using different brands of either to normal? Good old vaseline is messy but really works to relieve the soreness. Apply vast quantities before you go to bed and let the skin soak it up overnight. I usually find this works x

Have you tried Lanolin? If not Nivea Handcream used very heavily before work.
Unfortunately not one cream or treatment fits every person.
I would suspect it is the gloves but a good cream will certainly help even maybe a barrier cream

I suspect you are trapping the amniotic fluid under the glove which along with cold dry winds will quickly dry out your skin. Washing just dries them more and sunlight can also be trigger. Have you had lambing ear? Same thing rubbing your ear then inflamed with the sun.
Plenty moisture - E45, diprobase but you need some steroid cream too. Pharmacist can supply weaker versions. Have you kids with eczema cream? Your GP might give you something stronger especially if you can email that photo and save going in

Not sure what your gloves are made of but I used to use latex gloves pretty much every day at work for years, suddenly started getting sore hands and cracked skin! If I use them for more than a couple of hours now my hands start to itch! I’ve started using nitrile instead and don’t have any problems since.
Think I developed a latex allergy, if that’s possible.

I remember a nurse friend of mine telling me, she had a latex allergy, and the hospital had to buy her non latex gloves to wear at work.

I source my own gloves now so can get what I like where in the past they where supplied by my employer so just had to put up with it! When I was having trouble with my skin the doctor proscribed me white paraffin as a moisturiser which really helped at the time. Wasn’t ideal though as it’s quite greasy and you can’t pick anything up once you’ve applied it:rolleyes:

Thanks. Seen it in Agri store so will get some. Chemist has sent me a tube of cream. He to says it's either the dryness and wetness All time or latex reaction but rarely use the small gloves. So either the long gloves or just general dryness. Checked box of gloves and says nitril milking gloves on it ?

Nitril are OK, they are not latex. Here is an old nursing trick from way back! Get two large plastic bags that your hands can easily fit into. Warm a towel. Put huge amounts of vaseline on each hand and then put them in a bag each. Wrap your hands in the warm towel and do something that does not need your hands for at least 15 minutes. When you take them out of the bags, wipe them with a tissue, but do not wash. Rub your hands together until all the vaseline has been absorbed. It may sound like a complicated thing to do but it really does work.

Thanks [emoji1303] have been trying to use the milking gloves under lambing gloves anytime I have to lamb something today and if moving lambs to pens used gloves to. I think hands less red tonight but don't know if it's the gloves or less washing hands as been wearing gloves I'm not sure
