To get the best from it I guess so but subject to some detail they are going to be running a free 1 yr trail offer on TFF after launch that will let you try it this year

Watch this space but I was very impressed ! @Rhiza-UK
After taking to farmplan and been horrified at there charges  I’ve been running the current Rhiza software this year and been very impressed with it so far very easy to use, store field data, import yield maps, creat vr shape files etc.
Satellite imagery is great to, looking forward to the update as it sounds like there’s even more good stuff coming.
Plus the app is great for crop walking and finding any issues.

Do you need your fields soil sampled and zoned for it to work?

Zoning is done with satellite imagery using soil brightness , just a case of sitting at the computer and making a phone call, or they can come out and do soil proofing or both. Zones are then sampled to create your vr p/k maps etc

The update is another level - it’s rare there is anything truly new or seemingly game changing in agriculture like SAR is

This month I was told - existing customers first and then public launch to follow
Hopefully here something in the next couple of weeks then, there due to come and do some soil samples in the near future as well so I’m sure they’ll be in contact soon anyway.

Yes, the new update is planned for this month, we're just carrying out some final testing. Initial feedback has been very positive. The SAR and precision weather data is a big step forward for UK agriculture. Growth stage, biomass, LAI, GAI and then yield predictions from GS31 onwards, all updated daily regardless of weather! We've also got daily satellite coverage at 3.5m resolution, so regular imagery shouldn't be an issue either. Features will keep being added so this is just the beginning! Glad to hear you're as excited as we are, we'll keep you posted for when it's live :)

@Phil P - sampling is booked for January so samplers will be in touch soon.

Does anyone know if the main accounting packages do a desktop version with the ability to upload to the cloud later? our internet is very hit and miss, have tried cloud based versions in the past and struggled.
Thanks

Xero definitely cloud only. If internet drops out you loose the page you are on but nothing else. Farmplan if you really want it is desktop based with their own cloud backup it wasnt automatic when I used it, may have changed now though. I understand they are working on a cloud based system. My guess is that everybody will be cloud based when digital tax eventually comes in. The government are definitely very keen on it.

You may have to work on getting a better internet connection. As ever its all talk and little action with getting decent internet in rural areas. I would think that you could use Xero if you have enough internet to run TFF.

Not really, no. If you want to do that then you're better off running a standard desktop installed accounts package and then backing up its files/database to the cloud regularly or better yet setting up your computer so that it backs up all your key files etc to the cloud automatically for you.

As said above, I would investigate ways of making your internet connection more robust and reliable. If your fixed line internet is no good, perhaps look into rural wireless or 4G access.

Hi there @Sparrow ,

Our desktop version of KEYPrime Accounts can be backed up 'to the cloud' daily as @Pheasant Surprise recommends. Alternatively, we offer hosted solutions which require far less bandwidth than a web based solution as you are only connecting to a server rather than sending data up and down - KEYPrime is simply accessed via a Remote Desktop Connection.

You are more than welcome to test this service with your current broadband speeds if you are interested.

Best wishes,

It's pretty frustrating that there seems to be no decent Gatekeeper replacement. We're still doing it on paper because I don't want to go to Gatekeeper and then switch, but there's only so long you can wait!

Hi @Feldspar

Not sure if you are still looking but we offer crop recording solution Geofolia. Nearly 9000 users worldwide, available either as a desktop version or hosted. Includes very easy to use mapping, stock control and agronomists' import from GK as standard. Easy to use smartphone app available. It also links seamlessly with our accounts software - KEYPrime Accounts which can also be installed on a PC or hosted 'in the cloud'. KEYPrime Accounts has comprehensive reporting tools - cashflow and forecasting is simple.

Let me know if you would like more information.

Best wishes,

Annabel

Currently using FreeAgent (free package with bank) which seems to be very similar to Xero.

Looking to move second larger company across this time (currently using a very big excel spreadsheet!!!) and just wondering whether to go Xero or stick with FreeAgent and hope bank don’t start charging. What can we expect to pay for Xero?

What do you need to be able to do with it? Xero is slightly tiered depending on features.
