All the flakes would fall through the mesh on the shopping trolley we use in place of an expensive pram.
When the baby can walk, he can return the trolley to ASDA so I get my hard-earned pound back.

can you not just buy new complete ratchet straps, then you being a fish, you could take the bit off you need, and put the rest into the stores, and keep them in stock till about 2029 when you will need them bits to mend them again,

I have lots of new ratchets but a don't like them - the release springs are very stiff and I'm incredibly weak

He oils them so much, that he has spent motre on oil than they cost in the first place.
On a serious note, do they not have a five year service life, a lot of webbing and rope based gear does, then opening yourself up to possible litigation in case of accidents. Or is that just LOLER items?

If you keep a sharp eye you will find them lying on the hard shoulders of the motorways, need to be tidy with the brakes tho.....

Think you'll need to buy a full size block rubber, then whittle down a new pencil sized one from that...... of course totally worth it
how about a super single tread from the side of the road will be cheap

Marvellous! Very good for hay and straw / loads that the straps sink in to. Saves your back a lot.
Wouldn’t buy normal ones again now.
