New livestock EID measures announced by Michael Gove

Do any EID users have a preference for HDX or FDX tags?
We swapped to HDX as FDX reading in the crush was not very reliable. Seemingly the steel interferes with the FDX signals. We are getting on much better now

Am I right in thinking that sheep EID are FDX?

http://leaderproducts.co.nz/pdfs/FDX_vs_HDX.pdf
our sheep tags all HDX think early ones FDX and had poorer reads

we spent about 20 K on the 5 way auto drafter with eid etc etc thats for 2600 ewes and 900 odd hoggets
this mateing used old scanning data and ranked ewes based on that so top ewes over 1.5 avg scanning some lower ones only singles each year
bottom hoggets culled on weight gains also know how diffrent ram breeds do on avg gains etc
how they kill out yeilds etc etc
my grandfather only had 300 sheep yes it would be a huge cost for him if it was forsed on to him and would not of seen much gain if any to be fair did not scan or have diffrent breeds etc
studs and small flocks made huge gains just with a note book
a eid reader on a smart phone would be a winner for small flocks and i'm sure the cost would not be high a mangerment app and a reader would make things eazy for small flocks

I expected you to have a lot more sheep.

What age do you tag your lambs at?

2500 ewes and 800 odd hoggets
tag later due to lambing out doors so can't match ewes to lambs unless used DNA testing
tag at weaning but take off bottom end lambs frist only tagging ewe lambs out of better ewes mostly twinners lamb in breed groups so can put in sire type against the lambs to follow breeds and also for putting lambs in to mateing groups later in life

I see in the NFU mag that Batters is all for it which don't surprise me
It will combine the animals lifetime movement records, meds and assurance, Bloody WLA by the fecking back door if she has anything to do with it, worst days work they done when they voted her in, she most likely said oh its fine the farmers will pay for it.
you can tell her I said that to if you like @Guy Smith
as she don't seem to want to show her mush on here herself
Sort the bloody useless job out AFTER they leave the farm THATS where the problems are and where traceability falls down and leave us the feck alone till they have, won't bloody happen cos them buggers are not such an easy target
bring back MR all is forgiven

Only option you have is to cancel your NFU membership @Henarar because Batters will support anything that costs her members money and increases work/ drives out older NFU farmer members, you have seen nothing yet for the damage she is going to cause the industry!

NFU wont listen to members like you and with every passing day it just gets worse!

I don't think you will get a reply from Guy Smith because from the information I have been told Minettes inner team have told him to stop posting on social media like TFF.

I would love to know what @An Gof thinks about all this ref the thread topic as he has been a staunch supporter of the NFU and would never hear a word against the union and even claimed that his views are taken into account by the NFU top team etc which has gone to them via local office holders, quite clearly this is not the case because I have spoke to many NFU members about EID tagging in cattle and for every 10 you ask 9 are against EID.

so why did they vote her in:scratchhead:...easiest way to pay for new system is to cancel nfu membership...but will they:scratchhead:
