Looking at the results of latest cheffin vintage sale the doe dual drive fetched just under 70,000 pounds plus comission, according to the information with it it said over 40,000 pounds had been spent on restoration, i saw an unrestored doe tiple d sold at the same auction some ten or more years ago make i think 67000 pounds, the point im trying to make its very dangerous thinking vintage tractors make good investments?

The 67k was perhaps original and unmolested perhaps?
There is a definite risk to paying top prices for anything that has been appreciating for several years. The exceptional will probably always come through. There is a generational element to consider.

Ok to pay full wack for a restored one, as long as you watched it being restored. Paint doesn't make performance or perfection.
Origional ones of anything, are only original once

Personally, I don't think any Doe tractors are worth anywhere near what they fetch, waste of two good Major's most of them, but each to their own.

Now where's that tin hat ??
I agree I would rather have a County equal wheel drive

Used to be a 130 here,as seen in the grainy 70's aerial view. The steering Rams are still here somewhere. Couldn't be sold when finished with, so got put back to two tractors, just to get rid of it.

I bet you wish you still had " the worthless piece of junk" now sat in the shed not eating a thing

I know I would:D

Seen a mf 135 doe on my travels the other day:D
I've been invited back once it's finished it's 90% ready

Hindsight a wonderful thing. But this one, and one my uncle drove, were not liked one bit.
My uncle was watching one at a working event, and the driver asked him if he'd like a go on it.
He politely declined, saying if that owner had to work one commercialy, he'd certainly think different of it !
A Doe 130 in the nettles not far from here.

Investing in any old vehicles or antiques is risky, as they can go in and out of fashion.

If you pay top whack for a Doe, now, who’s to say anyone will want one in ten years? They’re very niche, so only a few (wealthy) men will genuinely want one at any given time.

Investing is about balancing risk - something popular, desirable and attainable is likely to make a safe profit. Something very left field may make you a stack of cash or may lose a bundle.

If you’re worried about buying a tractor that may lose value, investing isn’t for you.

Can’t believe now a days there would be a doe 130 in the nettles. Is it the usual going to do it up but al just leave it lying outside to rot?

I first saw it a good 25 years ago. It was left abandoned in a yard not far from a road, so the owners moved it to the yard at home.
The old guy passed away a couple of years ago, and as far as I know , the son still has it.
Several have tried buying it as it is, but no joy.

Doesn’t help with prices being so high as people see themselves sitting on a fortune but if not stored somewhere out of the elements it will end up a waste
