Muller and Trimble lines transfer

I have been using muller track guide 3 with rtk base station for a while. We are working inter-row. So im going to buy trimble tmx 2050 for mf 5713s autoguide ready tractor. My first question is would i connect to rtk base station that muller’s base? Could use muller’s created ab lines or others, with trimble. I tried to transfer it my friend’s trimble system with usb stick but there is nothing. I think it is not compatible. Could i convert to ab lines file format to use eachother?

How many AB-lines do you have? It may be difficult to find a SW that converts waylines between a specific pair of screens and the SW may be expensive (for an average farmer). Most often you can transfer AB-lines manually, read coordinates from the source screen and define new AB-lines manually on the target screen.

The AGCO wayline converter is free and supports Trimble but may not support Müller.

Don’t know the radio and correction settings but i will check it.
I have so much ab lines lots of field. Approximately have 13 field. Coordinate idea could work. I would try this stay in touch. And also check agco wayline converter.

I forgot that Trimble bought Mueller last year (or was it the year before)

Maybe considering they now own both companies they should take an interest in making their (certain parts) products interoperable for things like AB line conversion...the problem is there’s no common standard with any of this stuff. Even isoxml has no real standardisation.

You can convert a-b lines in software like gatekeeper

GK will read shapefiles, but will it do the job for Mueller AB lines though? Not sure.

Anyway I thought you were trying to get away from using GK.....;) seems like a bit of sledgehammer to crack a walnut if you just want to exchange some guidance lines between terminals.

To be honest I’m a bit disenchanted and disappointed with all the mapping offerings from the big boys. Trimble’s Farm Works has pee’d me right off, they’re basically trying to railroad everyone to upgrade to Farmer Pro for forty squillion quid per year.

Maybe I need to have a proper look at some of the new players like omnia.

I would love to get away from gk but there is nothing else yet that does all I need it to

Pretty sure it will convert the ab lines - I’ve done Topcon and JD to claas in it before

With this bit of software, you can read the USB stick from the Mueller and then export it in shape file format. Certainly works for boundaries but not sure on guidance lines.

Looks like with Mueller Track-Guide III, as OP has the save/conversion to shp file format (from native ngstore format) can be done from within the terminal, and apparently will also convert the guidance lines....

thanks for all help. will check the track leader desktop software. it is used to provide shp format but don't know which format trimble has to be done for guidance files?(files format) Trimble guidance files format's name do you know about it? so I could convert all boundaries or ab lines to trimble, by the way, trimble lines to mueller.

Trimble will use shp (shape) files. In an ideal world you would simply move the USB stick over and import the shp file that the Mueller display has produced directly into the Trimble screen, however as you've found life isn't that simple...

You're going to need to take the shape file with the guidance paths (i.e. the shape files with "_guidancepath" in their name) produced by the Mueller terminal/desktop software and pass it through some mapping software (e.g. like GateKeeper, Farm Works etc) and create a new shape file with Feature Lines layer in it that the Trimble display understands is for guidance lines.

Seeing as you haven't got the new display yet I'd fire off an email to Trimble Ag Software support and ask them; [email protected]

Off topic a bit - just had an email from Trimble trying to persuade me to upgrade to Farmer Pro - Cost seems to be 1788 per year in what ever currency you use (ie $1788 or £1788 or Euro 1788)!! It makes it £440 more expensive than US and £230 more expensive than Euros. It sums up an arrogance that some US companies have - not the first one that I have come across ("it works in Kansas so it will work with you")
Think I will stick with USB sticks but really need an alternative as I can only see Trimble going one way with Farmworks.

Having been a big supporter of Farmworks over the years sadly I drawing to the same conclusion and will see what I can learn at cereals, what alternatives apart from gatekeeper would people recommend for integrated costings and precision farming work like farmworks

Cheers

Let me know been FW for nearly 20years and have a huge amount of data on it ! I am sure the market is ready for a disruptive new comer. Some of the precision farming suppliers have on line portals with satellite maps. I would have thought the database recording aspect would be relatively simple. Needs to be PC and app feeding to the same record in the cloud. Universal usage of 3g/4g smart phones with gps makes the mobile recording element essential.

Went and had a talk with them on the Trimble stand at Cereals and it became apparent very quickly our American Cousins aren't interested in the UK and we are viewed as just and outlying state in the US. So there is nothing in it for AS Comms / Soil Essentials etc hence why there wasn't even a copy of Farmworks on display. They are trying with the US but I wouldn't your breath.

Trimble from the US made contact today so we will see what happens but I’m not holding my breath. But fingers crossed

I did hear that trimble are looking in on this thread. Had a look at Landmark at the Highland show it looks like it might get there - big user base in France has all the app stuff. Light on the GPS at the moment but it may be waiting for translation. The reports and integration with other programs is better. Also more realistic pricing.
Seemingly the Agrovista program is also very good.
Did you get an email survey to fill in? You could win a prize but only for US entries - think my time must be worth less than the other side of the pond!
I would not be surprised to see all the future development on Farmer Pro and the software move to an annual licence online only model.

I’m pleased they are looking as that’s what so good about this forum anyone can look in and contribute.

Yes I filled in the questionnaire because after all in there eyes I’m a US customer having bought my subscription over there and paid 22% Vat!! It’s just unfortunate I’d never heard of farmer pro but agree as you I can see these things ending up annual licenses and cloud based which then brings the who owns the data and who can use and sell it.

We will see

Cheers
