Isuzu D-Max Warranty Issues - Never Again

When i was shopping for a new pickup before christmas, my local isuzu dealership was most helpful in letting me have a demo of a brandnew extracab for the weekend, not like toyota who i finally bought, thats another story, my impression of the demo was the old adage you get what you pay for, i thought the build quality was below toyota, and one thing i didnt like, which i did a couple times was i stalled it and i found it was to easy to put it into reverese instead of first.

They say the auto box is better than the manual and the build quality was worse than Toyota ..............
Toyota are truly lovely people .............

My old 3.1 Trooper had a faulty ABS sensor at around three or four years of age, back in maybe 1997. By that time the system had been modified on the production line with new, incompatible parts. They could not find 'old' parts and no new adaptor cable was forthcoming and the software was also incompatible with the new part.
Of course a red ABS failure warning light on the dash is an MOT failure point, so up until it was scrapped in 2012, it had a square of silage tape on the instrument panel glass [plastic actually] hiding the lit warning light. It passed each and every MOT for 15 years like that, no questions asked.

The point being though, the backup from Isuzu and International Motors, the importer was atrocious even back then. Luckily, apart from a few 'hedgehogs' [rear axle bump stops], it never really needed any other part that couldn't be supplied by a motor factor.
On the other hand though, My Dad bought one of the infamous 3.0l troopers. Against much advice, it got a bit poorly and a bit of research on the internet resulted in a number to ring and we got him a complete engine. This was at just i=under 5 years old and just under 60,000 miles. It managed to almost make it to 100,000 before he got out of it. Top class service from Isuzu rewarded by him buying a Mitsubushi ;)

Good news today
Went on the Isuzu website and kicked up a stink - they have removed a part from the import centre and it will be with the dealer on Monday.
I actually requested this to happen 3 weeks ago.
However the strange thing is I was twice told by the dealer that once the part is on a vehicle it is then coded to that vehicle hence cannot be used for another one.

In answer to some of the other posts on here.

Yes it would be good to have the use of another truck if it was of the same level of truck as mine - for example when I put my RR in for any work the dealer always gives me a RR of the same or higher spec than I have

This is is my 2nd Blade and the 1st one went 3 years with only requiring tyres, wiper blades and getting serviced

Very true about the automatic as the one I have on loan is a manual and you are correct the gearbox is crap and reverse is easy to select when looking for 1st - I am getting used to it now after a few scary incidents

Last but not least when you have a vehicle on loan you have to be very careful the dogs etc don't damage anything or the cost is coming back to you where as if its your own vehicle well so be it.

If it was me,i would carry on using their vehicle as if it were my own,and I wouldn't be overly fussed about keeping it clean either, they have created the situation not the vehicle owner.

Finally i see someone else is having problems withe their D-Max as well.

I bought a 2.5td yukon in January brand new, having moved from a shogun to this for my gundogs.

Ive been littered with a reoccuring problem, after 5000 miles my clutch and flywheel gave up on me, fixed in the dealership under warranty. I put it down to a factory fault/teething issue so thought that was it fixed. That was in May 2017.

Then at the end of August 2017 it developed an oil leak and decided to blow the orange pipe off think its the intercooler one as well as being hard to get into 1st gear. Again fixed under warranty, no issues.

Then about 4 weeks ago the same problem arrived again, sticky 1st gear and a clutch burning issue. Went back to the dealership and they got a mechanic to take it apart. It needed another new clutch and flywheel as well as another oil leak they found. They went ahead and fixed it without contacting me assumming Isuzu would cover it under warranty.

Isuzu arent standing over this work under warranty and are saying a blunt no. Currently the finance company is investigating it with the dealership and Isuzu themselves.

Am i wrong to ask for a new D-Max as i dont want this one? Its not used for towing at all mainly to transport my dogs

The only advice I could give you is to log on to the Isuzu website and register a case.
Once head office got involved I saw a lot more action take place and that would be best way to get your issues across to them. I do know that at the start they only did fault finding work on my truck until Isuzu gave them approval as that was another argument I had at the start as 5 days had past and nothing had been done to repair car apart from fault finding.
https://www.isuzu.co.uk/contact/customer-support/contact-support

I have now received my D-Max back with the problem sorted. Apparently Isuzu were keen to change the ABS block hence the one from the import centre was being mobilised however a technician who had just come back from an Isuzu training course found a fault with some valve and replaced it - hey presto the truck is back in normal service. Apparently this has now been added to the lateral learning Isuzu database.
Thats 24 hours and all seems normal.

I’ve been onto their website and logged a complaint, they didn’t seem to care and basically said no we aren’t standing over this latest problem.

Finance company are involved now with the dealer

I thought that they had a 5 year 125,000 mile warranty, or are they saying that the clutch is a wearing part!
I'm pretty pee'd off that my 'new' Hilux had a transferable warranty to five years, it is just over 4 years old, but the pr*ck who owned it from new missed doing a genuine Toyota service last year so it is void. I really can't see the mentality of doing that!

That may be a get out attempt. I am sure that requirement was changed to any competent garage having to carry out the stated service.
