Dear all,

I have got me self an old-timer Sanderson Telehandler that seams to be as old as I. There are more broken stuff than things that works !!! so I am in the deep end of the pool at the moment :)

I wondered if any of you good members here on TFF can give me some info on where to source a 12 v hydraulic pump with fixed displacement for the break system.

Thanks

I might be wrong but i very much doubt they had a 12volt hydraulic pump for brakes?

Picture might be more helpfull.
1335 quite rare i think.

Thanks for the reply,

I also have some difficulties understanding the set up myself. Above top /left picture shoves the little 12 V motor connected with the red wire and 2 hoses. I do not think that the pump is original because the installation looks very home made. Newer the less the pump takes suction from the tank with the blank cap on the bottom / right picture, there is a discharge filter (red top) and thereafter some kind of what I believe is a pressure regulating block, from there the hose goes to the break pedal in the cabin. I believe the break pedal acts like a proportional valve rather than a pump like on a conventional car. There are 3 hoses to the break pedal, one supply, one return to tank and one there goes as a common line to the 4 wheels. The break pad sits inside / behind the planetary-gear. Because of that design it takes a lot of breaking power to stop. I been told that on later transmission the break system acts before the gear.

The pump is stuck because the motor had water ingress but I do not think that I can find a new motor. I think that I have to go for the whole pump assembly even the pump is still in good condition :)-.

So pleas feel free to come with any input on where get one like that.

Thanks

Not looked at the parts list but i would expect it to have a brake charge valve off the steering circuit?
If sanderson used the same valve they did on the gx and tx525 then that would explain why someone modified it as them original charge valves often cracked.

If i get time i will get the old parts mirco fich out tomorrow at work and have a look what should be fitted.

Is there not anywere else on engine you can take a drive off for pump?

Thanks that would be highly appreciated.

I need to check about the space for the drive off, but there must be space for it. You are right it does not make any sense to have a electrical pump. But maybe it was the cheapest option? I can see that the main hydraulic oil pump have been replaced at one point with a local brand so I believe that it is standard components that is attached to the drive. Do you think it would be possible to get the an "original" pump for a reasonable price?
Would you be able to supply a part manual in a PDF format?

Thanks once again,

Hello

Sorry i didnt get round to looking at parts fiche.
Sanderson didnt have any parts ino on pdf file so no chance. Unless someone pain stakingly scaned every page from a parts book but i doubt it not on such a rare model.

I did have a paper book for a 1130 i think. Its older but kind of similar in some areas. That had a ford 5000 engine and sure it used the ford power steering pump to supply the brakes.

Maybe the 1335 had a tandom pump originally?

OK :) I see, Just thought that the fiche was an expression, and not the real old time micro films archive. I guess that I was a bit over optimistic, I have searched the net for any info on the Sanderson 1335, but found next to nothing, so you are right there it is a rare model.
When you have time please have a look and see what you can find. any kind of help is highly appreciated :)

The engine in the telehandler now, is for sure not a Ford. I cannot remember what brand, but I could imagine that it have been replaced also.

I am not at home at the moment so I can not got and check unfortunately. If you could dig something up on the tandem pump it would be very nice of you.

Thanks

Hello

Engine is a Perkins possibly a 4236 or similar.

Had a look at the parts fiche but its not over clear were the supply for the brakes comes from.

It shows just the one single hydraulic pump, then a pressure filter, then the steering priority valve.

there's a pipe teed in to the hydraulic pressure filter going off to a valve (think that was called a starter valve? nothing to do with starter motor)) on the brake circuit but then there's another pipe comes off the steering priority valve to another valve on the brake circuit which then goes off to the brake accumulator and the brake pedal valve.

Its a complicated system IMO and if the original brake valve have been removed for what ever reason then I would say you got no hope of getting new ones. Might be possible to fit a new steering priority valve off say a matbro TS280 etc, these have a brake charge valve built in to them and can be adjusted to suit pressure required as can the steering pressure.

A transit type tail lift/body tilt assembly may provide a 12V pump that could be graffted in.

Yeah but you need one thats rated 100% duty cycle! The way these brakes designed it uses this oil to pressure them down to axles so without it there is zero brakes. I would want something bit better than transit type tipping gear!

MMM. Combined alternator/dynamo and power steering pump, could replace the existing charging system, or perhaps a Citroen hyd pump, small and belt driven, that would be up to the task as it does just that in the car, as well as the power steering and suspension.
