i have been advised do not buy agriline parts

today in Welshpool Smithfield I was talking to a guy whose brother fixes tractor engines at weekends and he told me that I should never fit Agriline parts because they are absolute rubbish

If that were consistently true I reckon they'd have been out of business long ago.

I have heard something different, that Agriline keep a fairly tight control on quality and any parts that fail are sold separately as part of their 'seconds' business - but how true that is I don't know.

What I do know is that I ordered a rocker cover from DATS (England) which arrived, very nicely made, but with NO BREATHER whatsoever! I then ordered one from John Conarty instead, which did have the breather, but was too high (as in, the retaining nuts couldn't be fitted as the studs didn't poke out of the top). So I still have the leaky original on at the moment. And as detailed on my 35X thread, I ordered some hose clips from Old20 all of which except two didn't fit the hoses they supplied.

So I think any generalisations are probably wrong - all of the parts companies have good bits and bad bits, it seems.

I don't think you'll find many people in the trade that rate them very highly. Certainly some of the bits we've had off them might look OK, but either don't fit correctly or don't last long.

Have found Sparex parts to be ok. But if I was too g an engine I would always use genuine parts if possible or parts from a company that makes the said part as in a Garret turbo for example.

Agriline are generally okay fir bits & bobs & I wouldn't bet against most of the stuff coming from the same factories that other suppliers use anyway. The problem with tinwork in particular is that unless you have the drawings for the original press tooling (or tooling itself) then the chances of getting a close to perfect replica is virtually nill.

Friend bought a leak off pipe cluster for a grey and gold, didnt reach the injectors. New bonnet for the same tractor came wrong colour Red, and when the red was stripped by his painter, the bonnet was very rusty underneath.

Then, it should be sold as a "may fit" with a price to match

Have used a piston/liner kit in 1 of the Fergies and has been fine (3yrs now) from Agriline but I will say their gaskets are just shocking, dont think many fitted correctly. Chrome rimmed steering wheels dont last 5 minutes.
I haven't bought anything from them since, I use Bepco for engine parts also Mayhill for certain parts along with Silverfox Tractor spares, who seem to source all the half decent fitting parts etc and are very good but then more expensive.

Had a set of rear mudguards for a Caseih 956 from intratrac recently in the belief that they were on the game in terms of quality and assurance of being the right shape and fit. They probably sourced them from the same places that the major suppliers get from. How disappointing that the bolt holes didn’t even line up (roughly say a hole n a half out) , were pee poorly painted with rust bulging out from all places. Never again......

I had a set of mudguards for a 5140 from agriline, well made no rust.I painted them then tryed to fit them....most of holes, half a hole out... want a job... o and the lights didnt fit 100%
.you get what you pay for,i would buy another set but try fitting them first! (as says in their small print!)

I bought a new seat and every time I went over a bump it droped down to the bottom . They said I could bring it back, but I had to re drill bottom plate to fit as holes didn't line up so I doubt they would of had it back. Took to bits and fixed it (made stronger ) but won't be rushing back. And bought some linch pins but the springy bit didn't have much on it and I lost 2 culti press legs. was not happy won't be using them unless last resort. And a fuel tap to go in a barrel but it just dripped so that was useless too.

I put an agriline piston and liner kit in our fordson Major, it's been fine.
The gaskets weren't the greatest but it does the job for cheaps.
Whilst I agree with you to a degree but if you're going to the trouble of taking it all apart and doing the job properly then makes sense to pay a little more and put some better quality components back in??

If it had been something more modern or valuable then yes.

But for a £900 tractor that does about 10 hours a year I don't see the need.

Whole job only took about 6 hours too.
