Spring crops really struggling

Has anyone tried using zinc as foliar fertilizer on heat/drought stressed crops? I read a lot of research online that it gives a nice boost and tried it this year, but have to wait for the harvest results to come in and see if it really made a difference.

Managanese AND zinc will help a crop suffering from stress.

Managanese is integral to plant metabolism and plays a role in energy 'generation'.

In some parts of the world where GM crops are used they spray them with glyphosate and then manganese to mitigate the stress it puts on GM HT crops.

Top shot, looking down the headland.
This is interesting, as this headland is always the headland, and has been therefore subjected to all the trafficking, combines, balers, muckspreaders and grain trailers and yet, is just as good as the rest of the field.

Second shot is looking down the field.

Inputs to date, seed, herbicide (pre em) and 125kg/ha mop.

The last time this field had any form of cultivation, other than a straw rake, was Autumn 14.
What drill are you using.?

They look very good.

I find the headland is often the best bit of the field, which goes against all common sense.

The headland is interesting, and as you say goes against what you would expect, add in liquid fert and the headland is just as good as the inner part of the field.

Winter crops are struggling here as badly as the springs, Iben.

We've missed all the rain which fell further east in Dorset, further west in Cornwall, further north in Somerset and further south in the South Hams.

Doubt if we shall exceed our 1976 yields here, which were about 4.5t/hectare for wheat, barley and oats.

Looking on the bright side, the clays are now cracked down several feet deep, which bodes very well for future prospects.

Another day with a yellow weather warning for thunder & flooding without rain.
Warning issued from 12pm-9pm, heard a few rumbles a good distance away around 5pm and that's been it.

Even mowing a couple of fields for silage hasn't worked;)
