Feed Bins

Seem to remember someone on here had the auger boot disintegrate, and Collinson didn't want to know.
EB and Bildabin here, both good, Bildabin cheaper, but only go up to 20 cube, so need two if you want to take full loads, but can still be cheaper that way.

Thanks prices all very similar. As tenants we also have to think about possibility of moving at some point, will the older EB move ok or do they become brittle?

The best people to speak to would be the drivers who deliver your feed they see enough of them! Don't get the ones that you blow up through the leg they are awful!!

Collinsons we have a few at work and they seem to last well, got a couple approaching 25 years old and are going find just going thin on the bend at the top. Have a single buildabin and will be the only one we will have, Very messy and dusty with the 2 outlets blowing around the floor makes a lot of mess with meal.

how old are they? i would think haulage from you to us might kill the job?

35t is 2015 and 25t is 2017. Collinsons will lift & re-install anywhere in the country. I did look in to it myself a few years ago and it was very reasonable but you would need to speak to them directly. I deal with Andy Howard so perhaps you might speak to him?

i deliver a lot of feed in the winter,
IMHO Collinson and V max are best quality bins, the V max can be a single bin, or a split bin in 2 halfs, with a round bag storage area at the bottom with doors, good for none dairy feeds, if a single bin on its own, then you won't regret buying a Collinson,

EB are not as good and don't seem to last as long, the filling pipe up the middle of the bin gives bother, and have seen a few with new pipes put up the outside as inside one is US

build a bin, ones are fine for nuts, but not so good for blend as said dust and meal blows out and makes a mess right where you bag off if you do that,

best indoor bins i have seen, are a big 5 tonne plus tote bag on a metal frame with own filler pipe, can bag off from them no bother, and when not in use, can be pulled up out of the way if you need the storage below, no other bin can do this,

wood bins likes of Simms, are cheap and for a reason, however, if a Steel filler pipe is fitted instead of Osma sewer pipe, and the bin is up on a stand and the bin is away from the weather, then they are not bad,

osma sewer pipe is just for that, not bowling feed through, they last about a year on the bend, then they wear out, steel bend would sort it,

other thing to consider when putting bin out side, Don't skimp on the concrete it stands on, this not only holds the bin up when full, But also holds bin down when empty, needs a good thickness and weight to hold a bin up in high winds,

last thing and most important for the feed driver, don't tie the dog to a bin leg, unless your going to clean the dog sh1te up, as the pipes get covered in it

Collinson. They will give you a spec sheet for the size of the base. We put up one about a month ago, 4m x 4m x 0.35m base. Its still standing this morning thankfully!
