Case MX150 - 1st powershift gone

Out topping today and I seem to have lost the first power shift step - no warning lights when 1st is selected in each gear and the old girl just freewheels. Anyone got any ideas?

Sounds like the PS 1 solenoid has failed. Swap the wires over with another one and see if the problem moves to another PS. Solenoids are on the rhs above the main hyd filter. Think they are numbered 3142 from the bottom up.

Thats the 5100 series there are only 2 solenoids on the MX controlling the 4 power shifts. Are all other gears working?

Apologies,you're right! Don't know what put the 5100 series in my head. But still swapping them would determine if the problem is there?

if a solenoid fails you should lose 2 gears.

all the other gears work - it just happened suddenly, could it be the switch on the gear lever ?

We have had the same on ours it’s either the piston has worn or the shaft has cracked and is letting the oil past it. It’s a split the tractor job to sort

Ye id say it's a split job but check your pressures first..
