You mean its frowned apon by you to send the newest team member down to the local dealer for a "long weight?"
No it's frowned on when someone is watching an laughing or even worse bollocking a kid when they are struggling to do a job, instead of spending 5 minutes to show them how it's done. There is work place 'banter' and work place bullying. Which is totally unacceptable IMO.

Check the pick up hitch is latched , Tail gate shut, check oils etc , always check the trailer is empty if picking up from shed so don't put wheat on barley or general crap,go steady , make sure brake peddles are linked together, swing as wide as possible when turning into gateways, try not to drive into long grass/weeds as a set of drag harrows might be left there and puncture tyres, always ask don't assume , look for a job , clean up spilt grain, brush up, grease up, Stay where you can be seen from combine cab, try to stick to tramlines, always catch the combine drivers eye before moving in to help un block/ hitch un hitch header etc.Fill back of trailer first if you can then just slow slightly till front is full.
If something feels dangerous or you feel unhappy about doing something stop and ask.

Don’t carry the trailer on the lift rods after the hitch is locked in. That’s a pet hate of mine. How hard is it to lower the arms a fraction?

And don't let the arms creep down so they hit the drawbar when turning.

Made my own big yellow sticker for 1 persistent offender, gave it the heading "Don't be a d**k". Purchases of replacement quick release catches gradually declined thereafter.

If I’m driving a John Deere and the trailers going to be staying on for quite a while I’ll often hitch up then slide the slider right to he bottom out the way but click the button to bring the arms right back to the top and lower them a fraction on the external controls when I put the pipes in. Sounds a faf but it’s not really and you can position them exactly where you want out of harms way.

scarey.....
Going downhill in low was scary! :) On my first job, they sent me off on a 135 with a load of strawbales knowing it had a dodgy Multipower- it would go into low, but wouldn't go back into high. I got to a very steep hill and it ran away. Luckily the road was a long tarmac run down to the local water works, but I was really motoring by the time I reached the bottom. The old hands thougt it was hilarious, but I still remember it now and think how daft it was. :)

Make sure the trailer brakes have been properly maintained, refuse to drive it if not.

Keep to the tramlines in the field unless actually unloading from combine.
Keep out of the combine dust - pretend you have no cab, like some of us on here when we started; unless of course you enjoy blowing air filters and radiators out.

Not just how it's done either, but take a couple of minutes to explain why it's done. Far more learning opportunities in understanding the why than the how.

Phone down, don’t try to fit 16 t in a 14t trailer, radio off when backing in to barns, don’t assume you’re on the TT, drive with respect to kit and other road users. Most important one, do not on any circumstances drive directly behind the combine.
