Conventional baler twine

Twine for small square balers is normally sold in a twin pack containing 2 spools.
It is stamped 12000 feet , but is that per spool or per twinpack does anyone know?

It must be per twinpack, 500 bales = 24 ft per bale 12ft per string which is not far off....

Having posted l went off to find an uncut twine from a bale. I measured it at 7 feet so 14 feet per bale.
You must be making long bales

You want 10.000 feet , it;s better string and kinder on your hands, and knotters prefer it .

I think I was basing my 500 bales on 10000 feet, as that is all I ever use, and always cotesi. Agree with bobk 100% last thing you want is string or knotter trouble.
Mind you 7ft must be pretty short bales!

It’s a bit of an arbitrary figure, nothing really to do with the length more a description of its thickness. If you actually weighed packs of string from different manufacturers you’d find quite a wide variation in weight, which is probably a better clue as to how many bales you’d actually get. I can’t remember exactly, because I haven’t used 12,000 for about 15 years, but I thought I got 600 bales ( 1m long ) out of a pack, 500 bales out of 10,000 ( hay twine ) and 450 bales out of 9250 ( trucker twine ). We use 9250 trucker twine in the large spools from Cordex so that three packs loaded into the baler allow us to do 2700 bales before we need to load more string, meaning that most days we only need to stop once to re string.
