used the old 1494 to top a few fields yesterday , hydro lever went loose , cable has worn through as it was touching a bonnet mount , anyone know where it joins gearbox ? just seems to disappear between cab and engine , presume right tank will have to come off , cant see any other connections , or is it better to cut a hole in cab floor ?(where to )

As far as I know there is a hole in the floor as @agrimax says, wasn't on the 1490 though, you had to either take of tank and lift cab slightly, or cut hole in floor of cab, which was awkward because of brake and clutch pipes ran under there.

Although this a picture of a 1212 it gives an indication where the connection is on the gearbox.

thanks for help everyone , gently cut away the floor with fine disc just caught one of the wires ,thankfully missed brake lines , turned out the threaded end broke off the cable , cant believe the cost of a new one (£90 +) , so we re-tapped the end and fitted it back on , seems ok and saved lifting cab etc , will just drop a new plate over hole , keep the old girl going for hedges later in year . all the best

for any future reference the hole needs to be under the brake pedals to about 6"-8" out , main rear wiring runs just to step side so be careful and brake lines run across under pedals as well

To cut a hole
You roughly want to be directly back inline with brake pedals about 8- 10inches from memory
It's a normal pin and split pin well the few I've done have been
