Surely if you have been complained about, you should have the right to know who has done the complaining. There must be a mechanism for releasing this info other than "we cannot tell you"?

Where is a solicitor (retired or otherwise) when you need him??????

Perhaps more serious are those who make a malicious complaint to the police knowing full well that guns will be seized and they will remain anonymous. So they will never have to answer for their lies in court.

@Bald Rick in England & Wales the Councils have to guarantee anonymity for anyone complaining of 'antisocial' behaviour, if they didn't some genuinely nasty people would do unpleasant things to people with reasonable grievances. However... they also know that a lot of 'stirring' and unfounded allegations come their ways, and so don't take that many too seriously. That written, if the correct procedure is followed, they have to take action, if only investigative, about things such as excess noise. All this being so, you aren't going to flush them out, which is unfair to the innocent man wrongly accused. Put the matter to strict proof...

If repeated, unfounded, complaints are made against you something can be done, it has been deemed a form of harassment and the Courts can help; but for a one off that just isn't going to happen.
