Big estate next to me started last week. I was tempted to start mine today but thought I'd wait until tomorrow. It's going to be terrible. Will definitely be the earliest wheat harvest for me. Only numerous major breakdowns will prevent harvest ending in July.

Just in from testing grafton 2nd wheat at13.4%. Looks like wheat may be cut before osr.

First field of skyfall done. 13% 86bushall 3.02t/acres on lime stone brash. 6-8mm of rain in the last 12weeks.

Specific weights are going be very high this year, only cut Maris Otter so far and was 71 at 17%!

I think it will be mixed had a look at some wheat with a neighbour on some light land and it had shrivelled up to nothing when you rubbed it out.

Has the £230 per acre straw field been cut yet? I think they would want 24hr security on it when was baled

They started for the local TV cameras last week then stoped as soon as they went away! A bit green in the shaded areas and believe it or not it was sprayed off with glyphosate only five days before. Not quite sure why they felt the need to spray off this year. Obviously their agronomist smelt a sale.
Then had the weekend off. I think they’ve got going today, like you.
I’ve got Shabras down on the lightest field on the farm. It has had ten years of hls grass then maize and lots of pig muck , but still makes me wonder what the variety would be like in a wet year.

How far off are you ? starting .
Quite a while yet. Most of mine is drilled after maize and is sticking it quite well. Got a field of winter barley after maize that isn't ready yet.
