someone asked if hydraulic power would stir a tower.
rather you than me as it would be v slow and require access all round the tank.
the thrust would just not be powerful enough. there is a Dutch stirrer but it uses it's own pump.
most loaders would overheat the oil if pushed too hard for a long time.
i chose VEE belts for the Mixit tower stirrer, as they are quiet, dont need lubrication, last a long time - 7-10years,
and the replacement cost is around £400 for a set of belts. there is a simple tensioning device.
the rotating tube is the same as the lagoon stirrers.

Push the mixer up vertical using the trailer ram and at the same time extend the ram for the rotating tube out about 5 feet, this will make a tripod and the mixer can stand up by itself. Obviously make sure the frame is leaning back slightly to put plenty of weight on the rotating tube.

The trailer can then be removed out of the way to allow the tractor to back up and hitch onto the three point linkage.

Ah i see, it dosent look much on its back but when its standing up its a fair bit o kit ! bit scary even when it is attached firmly to the tractor :ROFLMAO: I will try that method nxt time i have it out last time i slung it off the tele handler but found i had to climb up to take the chain off n its canny high :ROFLMAO:

Haha that sounds like a right mission. Tripod her and you will be grand, just make sure its on level ground!!

I have used mine on a 75hp tractor which was man enough to drive her, but nearly coped the tractor... from now on it's staying on 6ton+!

i would recommend you receive inst for your m/c. the belt adjustment etc is important for trouble free usage. the later machines have a permanent jib ram attachment - does yours? the impellers have also been upgraded.
the video of my tower stirrer, now 30 years old, working in thick crust is where an 80hp tractor left the ground when a big lump was hit. Anything less than 80hp is bad as the belt speed drops and it is more likely to flap the belts. 6 cylinders are better than 4 - more power strokes.

Mine has a removable jib ram, can take the pin out of either end, ive had off and put new hoses on as the ferrals were badly corroded. I will be keeping it on big tractor it can fairly get a hold of a big lump of crust can easily see how 80hp would nearly tip.

Bigger the better- the thrust from these stirrers going up over the side of a tower is insane.

Also, if you try hard enough and are a complete moron you will bust a mixit. I had a customer who had managed to do it, I was godsmacked they had managed to break the main tube as I didn't think it was possible.

I returned to find the PTO shaft sheared off the 75hp tractor we were running it on, man "watching" it didn't have a clue it had even happened... took 2 days in the main dealer to fix as the shaft goes right through the gearbox. (n)
