Had this text from Bfrepa:

Stonegate have reduced prices by up to 10p on mediums. Large and V Large reduced by 4p. Fully intact beak premium of 4p also removed. Overall reduction of 6p.

Doesn't say which or all contracts it applies to.

This all means nothing without knowing what they were actually paying. There are so many schemes out there paying bonuses for all sorts of things. The poultry sector must be one of the worst for being able to compare one packer against another.

You can always ask fellow producers what they're getting paid, and whether or not they are free to buy feed and pullets from where they like?

If they're open with you you may get a nasty shock though! We did about 4 years ago....

Article about the Stonegate price cut, I thought Tom Willings was an independent consultant since he left Noble Foods but it seems he's now at Stonegates.
I didn't hear tom willings or any others telling us this time last year we would need more for seconds when the wholesale market was doing a good trade. I bet Stonegate are still paying a new shed bonus, noble are. Who is creating this oversupply in the market if you believe it really is over supplyed.

Why would he, any price cut doesn't come out of his pocket!

I think the packers have led a mad dash for production, they all want to have enough free range eggs to supply retailers once they stop using cage eggs.

At the moment the cage sheds are still producing eggs as well as the new free range production thus the oversupply.

Throw rising feed prices into the mix and you have a perfect storm.

I heard this week that Stonegate had cut the price to their feed tracker contracts as well, as feed prices rise. They did this by claiming that the price consists of a base price plus a feed tracker element, and that they were cutting the base price due to market conditions.

I don't know if anyone can confirm this?

If true makes a complete mockery of the whole concept.

Yep that's true. They also wouldn't confirm if they would cut the base again or not!
