how much roughly for the wagon and how long will it last? would one wagon be enough for my 220 acres of single cut bulky silage?
A big wagon is about £70 k , I have one wagon gone over 6000 acres with out one penny spent on it and it's still the same as new. The bigger wagon I have does 1200 acres / year. For the season I average 14 litres of fuel for the complete job / acre . Hope these facts help.

I only cut and lift my out farm but the main grass works out at between 5,6k in contractor charges per cut. I guess labour and diesel would cost me 1k to 1.2k if i did it myself, take off the tax relief on 5k= 1k. Total cost actually for contractor is 3k. Considering the weather window and so many mouths depending on my discissions and the stress i think the contractor is cheap. I still enjoy a bit of silage work but im now on the wrong side of 50 for the diy lark

This is my other baby which i keep for indoor work when silo gets high. 25 years old,and a mans machine

6000 acres without a single penny spent? Still as new? Come on. They may have a low running cost, and do a good job, but I think that statement should start with ‘Once upon a time........’

Still running the same blades pickup tines and gearbox oils as when it was new? No grease? You are in your hole. Is that the one that you split the rotor in half with your fancy blades?

just looks like a trailer whys it 70k? how many tonne it take compared to a standard conventional trailer?
IT brings 18-20 ton of grass when filling itself , if you fill it with a sp harvester it holds 14 ton. As for price it's not cheap but it's better value than a new trailed harvester at €50 k.
