Hail, thunder , lightening and some decent rain for a change . Had just put some more stubble turnips in and got too wet to roll .
Fertiliser on the grass now.

Wind moved more SE over night bringing smoke from Roaches fire towards Flash rather than over Winking Man, some dampness. Morning dry, a lot cooler, wind changing to become more westerly in the morning before a couple of hours of rain after 12 noon. Now dry again. Hopefully will have dampened fire which appears to be in trees on the S side of the Roaches, but has spread to the ridge and occasionally blows over onto the N side which is what I can see.

There's a drone video on Youtube (fee applies to commercial sites so search for it yourself or use a local newspaper site that has it)

Fire on N side is on ridge obscured by smoke 0949 100818.jpg
Fire on N side now blowing more easterly across slope 1045 100818.jpg
Fire on N side burning easterly across slope 1051 100818.jpg
Fire on N side on ridge obscured by smoke 0950 100818.jpg
Fire on N side periodically spreads from ridge 1017 100818.jpg
Fire on N side burning across slope dark clouds rain 1 hr away 1150 100818.jpg
Fire on N side spreads above houses from ridge 1037 100818.jpg

Downwind, mostly smoke from ridge at top 0936 100818.jpg

There's a video from Staffs Fire & Rescue on road in the picture after the rain for an hour or so.

Had a few good showers here today. We have had to upset a few Brides the last few weeks by canceling their wedding Fireworks as i deemed it irresponsible to go ahead.Hope to see some greening of fields soon :)

Beautiful morning, hopefully get tomorrow out the way then back to wall to wall sun please

One farm had about half a mm, so we are back cutting this morning. Wettest corn if the year so far at fifteen percent. Hot now. Balers everywhere. Hoping to get another sixty AC cut ahead of the rain and just leave eighty next to the drier shed for next week. Then oats and linseed. Then.....bank holiday weekend off.
