Our local contractor with his Sim tech says it’s the vibration during seeding which promotes a higher rate than calibrated.

Anyone know much about about older Aitchinson drills, have a friend looking at an old drill for workshop project. Think it’s a seedmatic 1000 series but sounds like no discs only tines, this be right?

Which contact number is the most effective when wanting to order spare parts? Not complaining because I know George has a lot on his plate but have just struggled a bit this season.

If I haven’t been able to get hold of George (often in France I think), he has texted asking me to ring Simon instead. I just ring Simon more often than not when I wanted parts more recently.

I’ve always emailed what I need and it turns up a few days later. Had to order a few bits this season for my drill and all arrived pretty quickly.

Thanks guys. I will email next week. I know if I needed anything desperate I could keep ringing and I would get the parts but not urgent so didn't want to be a pain. As you said Neilo, George is in France a lot.

Does anyone know anything about the aitchison seedmatic drills? Look basically the same albeit narrower row spacing and without the roller on the back. As an arable drill it looks like you'd want something to cover the slots, but it looks to have a towing eye on the back for this eventuality. Does anyone use one to good effect?

We have just drilled some overseeding mix into an old ley (York fog predominately) having limed it and fed with some 0:20:30. Grass is just showing the tips from the slots. Hoping for some advice as to when I can load it up with nitrogen? It’s been left hungry to suppress the old grasses that are still lazy at the moment.

Yeah, I have the Seedmatic, think it is pretty much the same thing, It is a good drill but I wouldn't recommend it because of the tboots it uses, they are supposed to be made of nihard carbon steel but I think they are made of glass and @ $80 a pop will cost you a fortune, if you have 10 stones in a paddock then you'll break 8 boots, very poor design, they look very similar to the points you have on your SimTec's over there, I have a set of chain harrows I either hook on the back or follow up with
