Arable offer calculation

I am filling in my Arable offer online this weekend, and so far, I'm quite impressed. My one query is that when I look at my claim value over the 5 years its approx 50% more than I am expecting. Anybody else noticed this @Feldspar and others? I'm going for the basic 2% bird food, 1% nectar and buffers next to watercourses.
TIA

What do you mean more than you expected? I have submitted two this year and they both were on an Excel spreadsheet rather than through the online system. There I had Annex 2 which showed the areas I was applying for and their value. This was then added up and appeared in the application summary which seemed to make sense. In short, everything tallied up as expected.

Oh I see. Well mine is fine on areas etc but the amount seems greater than the area times the rate so I’m very confused.

Also do you know if the 50% hedge cutting limitation applies to the arable offer? I know it does for the straight mid tier....
Also @Feldspar how come you didn't apply online? Over 100 parcels?

Does apply, but only in parcels which have a multi-year option or a rotational option on them in that year.

Because we'd pulled out of a Mid Tier scheme the computer didn't like an online application. For one application we had over 100 parcels so wouldn't have been able to apply online anyway.

I had the same thing; it was glitch with their system and apparently won’t affect our applications.

I'm too lazy to check but when do we hear to say we have been accepted? As I read it we have all been accepted if the application submits successfully?

Yes i’m lead to believe as long as it has been submitted successfully and you have the receipt then you’ll eventually receive the agreement to sign.

With the emphasis on eventually no doubt. Last year applied for mid tier and withdrew after hearing nothing by mid April after the end of January due date.

This is a good point. I have had someone working through and checking both of our applications at Natural England about three weeks ago which is a lot faster and a lot earlier than the last Mid Tier ones I did. I think you cannot assume you have an agreement until you have actually signed to accept the offer.

And presuming our offers start on 1st Jan (?) should we be aiming to do things like enhanced over winter stubble from this harvest or next? I can convince myself both ways. A more logical start end date would be 1st Sep......

No, enhanced overwinter stubble only starts from after harvest 19. Things like wild bird food plots need to be established next spring (I think!).
