Xpress bounce.

Apart from going slower, how can I stop my 6 metre Great Plains Simba Xpress from bouncing?
It’s okay at 9.5 Kph but could easily go quicker.
Currently working stubble down, 45 degrees from first pass. Tia

Are you letting the discs go as deep as they can or are you carrying some weight on the wheels

Our short discs are doing the same. On stubble first pass it’s fine. It only happen if we go over a bit a second time. It’s bent the beam thats between the packer bearings. Factory are sending a reinforced bean to see if that helps.

I find it worse on lighter/deeper ground.

Not really, the ground was really hard and I was only scratching the surface for a chit.tractor speed will hold them out if too hard but just experiment till I like the result.never get bouncing going over ploughed land

To stop the bounce, you have to go faster, our he-va will bounce between around 10kph and 13kph.
You can't stop it, you need plenty of grunt to pull it through the bounce speed, we usually run at around 14/16kph never a problem at that speed. This is with a 5m trailed.

You’ve obviously got the tractor with the optional warp speed button.:D

I reckon the wheels hanging out the back is the problem, you need one of these!

Kuhn reckon they've solved the bounce by putting the wheels after the discs and in front of the packer. Saves the fancy linkage to bring the weight forward as well.

From when we sold new machinery. Training we had from manufacturer was discs had to have good forward speed to incorporate 12k was a minimum. I see so many discs 5-6m wide being pulled by 230hp which isn’t enough on heavy land to do that speed. Then people wonder why they aren’t incorporating properly.

This year it seems all discs are bouncing ... never known a year like it! Maybe it’s the really dry conditions?
Be aware that many components on modern cultivation machinery simply isn’t designed for serever bounce scenarios. The forces being exserted when 6 or 8 m of metal are bouncing at 10/12/14kph can be massive.
