whatever you buy id be going for a super silent, the drone of a genny even outside a shed in its own house is going to get on your wick if not ss, or at least it would on mine, it id depend too on if you have neighbors, they mightnt take too kindly to the rattle of a std genny on days or evenings..

had you thought about a 3ph genny or maybe youd consider that a bit ott for what you want, i ask that because i bought a second hand 30kva 3ph super silent genny for 2.5k, it id open up a lot more avenues for you altho i know its above the money your looking at but its a hell of a lot more pixies for not a wild lot more when youd consider the cost per Kv.

aside from that, the first one there looks the better choice if your tied to 6Kva, the bottom one is going to be noisy id imagine.

Top one seems to be sold now, the bottom one says extra super silent
3ph would be over the top I would think.

if im after something and my tongue isnt out for it ill watch away at sets, ill google up whats good n bad and start to weed the wheat from the chaff so to speak, then id watch the select few id have whittled it down to and keep an eye on price achieved and condition.
after a bit youl know when you see value.
maybe consider the max youd be willing to spend and look at what it would get you.
that top one did look like a right nice one.
i looked at the second one and read some too but missed the bit about xtra ss, my bad.
Rem, the day you buy, is the day you sell.

looking at the top one again, i dont know if its sold, i think it just ended.
give them a ring, if its still there it might be bought a few quid less.
it looks a nice set, i think its the pick of the two.

If you can try and get a 1500rpm, water cooled gen set, more expensive but much quieter and from experience more reliable. The 3000rpm air cooled diesel sets are noisy as hell and rattle themselves to pieces.

6kva might struggle a bit to run a workshop. I've a 7.2 kva yanmar powered one here and tbh it wouldn't want to be any less. Fantastic on diesel but struggles on the inverter welder. Whenever I decide to change it'll be replaced by a 10kva one.

i am looking at getting a 6kva generator to power compressor and welder at a shed with no power.

looking at a few local sets on ebay

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Generato...902132?hash=item1eea003974:g:9R4AAOSwIr9blTXF

what are your thoughts and advice?
As others have said how big is the motor on the compressor and what is the size and type of welder?

You really want at least triple the power of the worst case load (if not more) to cater for startup current especially on big motors.

Also inverter welders are far more ‘generator friendly’ than traditional welders.

We have only got a small welder, on a 13amp plug, so nothing to big.
The compressor is 2kw I think.
I would not run both together, the lights are led so not ,such draw.
I will see what 1500rpm are about

I have decided diesel. Any one know of any 1500rpm sets up to 10kva for sale.
Was ideally looking to spend no more than 1000, but might for right set. Think that it is to tight for a 1500rpm though.
Thanks
