MF 35x ?

Can anyone let me know what defines a 35x from a normal 35? as I remember something to do with the clutch
my 35 when the clutch is depressed halfway will stop the loader lifting....anyway what do I know, would just like
to know some history on the tractor as I hope to get it restored soon. thanks in advance

Nothing to do with the clutch at all
35x has a different engine
Also heavier hydraulic top cover

Post a picture of dynamo mounting bracket on the engine it’s the easiest way to tell! Do you have the serial number?

Ta. I will get a serial number, and it has been converted to an alternator, so the brackets would have been changed i guess, Just to chuck in the mix, was the Delux model the one with a dual clutch?

Yes,Deluxe had dual clutch.

No the diff lock was an extra cost option I don, t remember the price though

35X was only 3-cylinder so yours would be MF-35 De Luxe.

(4-cylinder has exhaust on right-hand side when sat in driving seat).

35x were all three cylinder.

When I was a lad in the 60's everyone seemed to be buying brand new tractors. I wonder if anyone has any info on the number of tractors sold in the 60's compared to say the last decade, and how the total HP traded compares? For example a big arable operation bought 30 tractors 40hp-75hp in a year back then, now they might buy 1 x 250hp

Good point, never really thought about that, I guess a modern 150hp + tractor can cover the ground of 4 small ones
So surely they can't be selling so many units.

Red and grey, or grey and gold?
Far nicer runner than the 3 cylinder

Yes does run more even than my 3 cyl less noise and vibration
she is grey and red. Had it running all day today loading and unloading stuff, never missed a beat.

Can't exactly remember the figures but I think it was somewhere near 1/2 million tractors in the post horse era and been falling ever since.
