Hi,

I've recently bought a manitou 627 mlt turbo and the bucket when there is a big load tilts down without any input but stops when the engine is turned off. Does anyone know what the problem for this is and how to fix?

Umm, sounds like you have a late model with elecy joystick? got a serial number? could be a joystick issue or a solenoid issue, something is not letting the tilt spool return to neutral when running.

New spool block. Ours was £1600. There are lots of variations and ours had a different one to what was listed for our serial number. ...

Not sure if the serial number off the top of my head will need to check but it’s an 09 plate

A complete block for one faulty spool?

TBH on this one it may not be a spool block, the key here is the fault stops with engine off, but that could be just because the lock out valve on the tilt ram is doing its job. its either the spool not centring due to wrong signals or a crack in the spool block which I have had before which does result in a new block.

Spool block should look like this. 4 bank, this is good because you only have elecy for the AUX and the Extension, lift and tilt are old school pilot control from joystick base.

So your tilt circuit is on ports EI or second spool in from the inlet pressure pipe.

Remove the 2 small pilot pressure pipes from the ends of the tilt spool rod, start the machine, charge the joystick pilot circuit by turning the steering but don't touch the joystick. no oil should leak out of the pipes or the connections on the end of the spool.

If no leaks then its save to say the spool is in neutral (but you could pull it out and check the springs on each end if you wanted?) other wise its looking like a cracked block:poop:

I was expecting a later machine with full electric joystick which opens a whole new can of worms but this is quite an easy one:)
