Did I say the EU was killing people ? I said the EU is a modern day empire trying to bring lots of countries into one super state, how can any sane person deny that is the aim?
Read up on the EU history, right from the beginning just after the 2nd World War,and the aims.

Ah, if I recall the European Coal and Steel Community - Treaty of Paris 1950. The taming of the Ruhr valley. Two key raw materials for producing weapons. Join these into a supranational agreement and France and Germany could no longer materially go to war.

Funny old world. I suspect most of the folk contributing to this thread were born within 15-20 years from the end of that war. Similar timescale to Blairs wars.

And now Macron today bigging up an EU Army whilst lumping the USA in with Russia and China as threats.
The man is a fekkin disgrace to all inhabitants of Europe, in or out.

Trump has been telling Europe to defend itself better and at the same time is looking to end the INF treaty with his pal Putin, which will put us, not America directly in the nuclear firing line. It is maybe time to take the threat seriously, but the US cannot be relied upon with Trump in the White house anymore than the UK could be with Corbyn in number 10.

NATO does all that's needed.......If only the members stump up their share of the subs.
An EU army to take on and try to conquer Russia is just what is not needed.

Trump just wants those in Europe to walk the walk.

A good example is Germany.

Exports all over the world, yet pays very little for it's own defence relying on the same states it makes money out of.

That's bad .. but then you find out Germany is FUNDING the enemies of those states.

I'd rather stab myself in the eyes than trust the EU or Germany .. Merkel is nuts.

I think NATO is built around US military supremacy. But what happens if USA removes this - which maybe the case under President Trump.

Who knows?
But, what we all do know, is that Trump is a business man first.
Threats of pulling out of the NATO deal using facts of low and even non existent payment into the scheme may just be part of trade negotiations.
Bigging up an EU army may just be a disguised counter for now.
Whatever. I can't see us heading for a major "family" conflict anytime soon.
As you've said many times.
"Interesting times".

Germany is funding Russia whilst the USA and UK protects Germany .. whilst Germany makes money out of the USA and UK.

In other words Germany plays all sides for it's own benefit whilst undermining all parties.

The USA must be the world leader in those sort of absurdities, Iran-Contra etc. Only recently in Syria they were training, arming and funding the same people they were fighting against.

So your comment that Merkel is a nutcase is hardly true is it? She would seem to be a very shrewd operator............ of course what you write is just nonsense.

Politicaly due to Geography Germany is in a difficult position, historically it is in a difficult position, economically its in a good geographical and historical position.

Blaming a country for good ecomomic sense is like blaming a Premiership Manager for playing his first team.

We should have learnt lessons from Germany in the 1970s rather than relying on " its Austin (Allegro)" people will just buy it and we continue to "trade" on badges like Jaguar land rover even though the quality and reliability of these products is woeful. We have no Audi, VW, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Siemans, Bosch, Mini (lets not even go Japanese or Korean)

Merkel may not be universally liked but she is a highly successful efficienct politician, something our hysterical politics needs more than the rhetoric of Corbyn JRM Boris McDonald and Fox etc.

Given the rules about Climate Change .. reducing CO2.

Why has Germany CLOSED it's Nuclear power stations.
Why does Germany now source CO2 polluting Natural Gas from Russia.

Germany should pay for it's own defence, should abide by Climate Change policies like every other country and stop taking other countries for a ride.

I'll have to remember that Liberals & Socialists consider supporting Russia economically "Good economic sense".

I am afraid WF the forces of nature, a tsunami caused quite a ripple - pun there not in good taste afraid. Merkel had no political option given the force of Greens. In same way the AFD is driving policy on the issue of immigration. So natural gas was the quick easy fix. I concur though not good. But we take liquid gas from Qatar and likely to take more as North Sea runs down. All terribly difficult. Cheers.
