Cutting TV credits at the end of a programme, Sky have always done this, but now the BBC are following with trailers instead of adverts. Some of us geeks actually like to see when and where the programme was made, presumably the BBC fear that their viewers 20 second attention span may be lost and they will start switching channels.

Wrecked a tyre on our Amarok a couple of weeks ago. Hit a kerb avoiding a nutter who obviously didn’t know that he was yards from a crossroads. Luckily our pickup with tools on board was just up the road, because when we tried to jack it up with the vw jack, it was not only really unsafe, but it wouldn’t jack high enough to get the flat off, never mind fit the spare wheel !

The one supplied with my pickup never reached the cills!

I guess as long as car jacks meet some minimum health and safety standard, that is all the car makers care about.
Whether the jacks and handle is really fit for purpose I struggle to come to terms with,as in my opinion they are not.
All the technology on the vehicle yet a next to useless jack and handle:banghead:

Your lucky if you get a spare wheel these days.....many vehicles don’t have one now!
I think it’s ridiculous, but in reality how many people will even want or be able to change their wheel on the roadside if needed? I’d say the number is dwindling fast!

Would you jack up a pickup the cills though? They are generally supplied with a bottle jack of some sort, and personally I think the should be placed under the axle at the rear, and the front subframe at the front. Or at least somewhere on the chassis? I don’t think I’ve seen a pickup that’s designed to be jacked on the cills?

But agree, most jacks supplied are only ‘just’ up to the job.
Some of the Ford ones are truly dangerous in the wrong hands!

I wasn't suggesting actually jacking off the cills, just that the jack wouldn't go that high. I only placed it next to the vehicle, I never needed to use it luckily.
Another issue with them (bottle jack's for pickups) (assuming they go high enough) is that you do have to put them further under the vehicle but they only have tiny handles so you have to put yourself at risk by being under the vehicle while it is being jacked!

Never had trouble jacking up trucks.normally a few extensions for jack crank handle so you can stay out of danger whilst jacking and normally put jack under axle on rear or under bottom wishbone on the front
