if I ever have the chance to buy a new tanker I would spec the outlet to be at the bottom of the tank, not the back door. have patched a few tankers and all rot at the bottom and up the centre line as the outlet isn't the lowest point.

our own tanker here is galvanised though

What age would they be when they 5ust through? Have a 1988 star 1500 here and when it's washed it's paintwork looks better than the 2009 redrock

done two stars and one abbey, rebarreled a 725 star, was nothing left to patch. don't know age, think the abbey was mid ninty, possibly early ninety. don't know what age the stars were, outside both looked good but inside it had rotted out

Lots and lots of Star tankers imploded around here years ago. They were best sellers by a mile for a few years until they disappeared. Hi-Spec took over market leadership for a while after, but these days lots of other brands are competing rather well and it’s difficult to judge which is best or which is the best selling.

No idea which, if any, are painted inside. Years ago i did paint the inside of both a Fosse and a blue tanker which brand escapes me just now. It made zeros difference as far as I could tell and would not bother again.

Edit
Malgar. It was a 1600 gallon Malgar.

I’ve 2 star 1300s the one that’s had the topfill used by a previous owner has lost some paint but the other one would look like new if I washed it

It's not available any more, but I used tar based stuff called Presomet from Thomas Ness, Caerphilly. Long gone with the demise of coal mining. Excellent stuff in its day. Just naming it here brings back its smell as if I had used it this afternoon.
