EE are the only carrier in the UK at the moment supporting the new eSIM, which once their provisioning process is up and running, should bring lots of benefits to phone users and hopefully cheaper and easier to move between carriers (or have a suite of carriers you can choose from on your phone), instant activation and no need for physical bits of plastic.

Apple began supporting eSIM as of yesterday in the UK with the release of iOS 12.1.

Sounds very clever....yet so incredibly simple you wonder why nobody thought of it before.

EE certainly seem to be very forward thinking.

Think the carriers have really been resisting it, as it makes changing networks as easy as scanning a code or opening an app. They don't like churn or losing customers, anything to lock you in.

Agree though that EE appear to be right up with the latest changes and products. Once upon a time you could argue that Vodafone were the cutting edge carrier, but I think EE edge them out (and they have a better network).

Yes, I think Voda have lost a lot of ground in recent years. Quite a bit of cost cutting behind the scenes I think.

Sorry missed this. Dont really understand.I have broadband in the house and submitting the vat return online is not a problem. The problem arises because once HMRC have my figures they will then text my mobile a code to input into the computer but the text never arrives as I have no signal until I wander out of the house. By the time I get the text and wander back in to log it on the computer I am time locked out. How will what you are suggesting overcome the no signal on my mobile phone.
iOS 11 I solved that for me. Since earlier this year my iPhone will connects to the mobile network via my broadband, I get calls and sms even when my mobile signal is crap. (y) Ps going forward doing the VAT return on line will need to be done though software connected to your accounts, not through the HMRC webpage as we do now. Probably won’t require the phone verification process?

Will have told them where to stick it by then. Can see a return to the black economy if there not careful.

Just seen you have no landline John that really doe's put you in a bad position.
If he’s got decent broadband he could also get a “virtual landline” aka VoIP. Mine is basically free, I just pay for calls at about a tenth the going rate. No line rental as such.

What’s you waste on renting a piece of shitty copper from the dorks at BT you could put towards instead towards funding a decent alternate internet connection.:rolleyes:

I highly recommend it :D
