Stoves

If your looking for the most reliable stoves, that are British then go for Charnwood, Dunsley, Town & Country Fire and Woodwarm. They may look expensive but they are all well made and efficient. The spares will be available in years to come, long after machine mart have stopped selling stoves. We been selling all of these manufactures for 40 years!

Any body got a clear veiw wood burner ? Wife is dragging me tomorrow to Stow on Wold to look . Seems good on paper.
Ive heard good things ..
But maybe all mordern designed stove will b good .
U want clear glass , good air control, secondary combustion ..... pay more for a efficient quality product ?? I see a morso in tee rooms, were we have breakfast on shoot days , very impressive/ good . U would think the flames were propane.

Re. Say machine mart , it is a get what u pay for ... cheap stove do a job , ...... also think about size of fire box re log size .
How easy to service clean , ash pan .... living with it daily for years , ....
My main two have big boxes so i can leave my fuel bigger / less work . When mum nicks log for her shitty firefox 5 , its a tiny box , baffle needs cleaning regularly, its a pillark of a job 4 me , less nibble hand ,no chance .

It's 90m3 old stone built fridge.

My old fridge used to require a 60 kw oil fired central heating boiler but with insulation and triple glazing we now heat the whole house with a Dunsley Yorkshire central heating stove which looks like a normal log burner but has another boiler behind the stove so the stove itself is not cooled by the boiler which is the major defect with most stoves with a boiler. At present it runs 7 radiators controlled by thermostat two of which are in the same room as the stove (living room) which gives a quicker heat up to the living room. Once thermostat temperature is reached in the living room the temperature is maintained by the stove. Most people make the mistake of putting two big a stove in then having to run it on tickover. Better to have the right amount of heat in the living room then distribute any excess heat around the rest of the house.

Theres a lot more to it than connecting the flue and hoping for the best, most of the regs are not about air pollution but to ensure the occupants dont die of CO poisoning .comparing it with dry stone walling is as ridiculous as comparing it with milking cows.

To do the job safely you need to know what flue angles can be used, diameter, spillage , airation, ventilation ,distances from combustible material , hearth sizes, CO detector placement etc.
IIRC the only way you can legally get around not using Hetas is to have the building inspectorate sign it off, this costs more than paying a Hetas engineer to sign it off and most won't if they don't install the stove.

"Each year, about 50 people die in the UK from CO poisoning"

You obviously have no idea of the skill involved in dry stone walling. Installing all my stoves has never taken me more than a day each to install and is certainly not what I would call high on the skills list. Whereas dry stone walling I am quite satisfied if I can achieve 2 mtrs per day.

It only takes me an hour to fly 120 miles in a light aircraft which is about as a relevant a skill as dry stone walling is to installing wood burners .

There is skill in flying a plane and skills to dry stone wall , no skill in fitting a wood stove justs regulations , and you can get a certificate off t'internet ..

You sound arrogant , stupid and dangerous , the sort who kills his family with CO poisoning .

To be honest I still think installing a wood stove is not that complicated. Its not hard to find out the info on carbon monoxide placement ,flue angles, distance from combustibles etc. Sure if you know nothing about them or are not at all practical or building minded then you may not want to fit one but I honestly think many capable amatuers can fit one.
