Does anybody know how much skimmed ended up in intervention? Just read an article that stated 200000 tonnes has now been sold out of intervention. It would nice to know how much is left. It would be great if it was gone before next seasons over production hits.

Were Ireland not putting more into intervention this spring?

What drastic changes have you made? Cows getting 8 kilos blend, 5 kilos draff whole crop silage and averaging 5 kilos of cake in the parlour. Time of year I don’t like to be short on feeding to get a better seasonality. Probably should cut the blend but we are marginally getting the production bonus (which is produce 1 litre more than the same month last year) so if tank drops that’s .5 pence down and poorer seasonality which pays throughout the whole of next year so I feel feeding them and getting litres is worthwhile. Feed bill would put a weaker man in a mental home. Margin over feed roughly 180£ per cow on 28.6 pence. It’s the low cost that excites me about these cows doing 10 litres and producing straight butter out thier Tits, if we had a few more cows one man less feeding 2 kilos of cake getting paid 50 pence I see good money there! What is the highest cost in a low cost system apart from land ?
What forages do you have in the mix SC ? You seem to be quite heavy on the bought in conc for the litres.

A figure of 300000 tons seems to be familiar but I may be way off target

What’s the alternative? A guy over castle Douglas was paying 100k in tax, changed accountants and went on to pay 10k tax . U boys need to change accountants
Agreed given our profits this yr we are paying an obscenely low amount of tax this yr. the tax system is crazy and means my tax rate is far lower than my staff. Which in any reasonable society is totally wrong. All our tax system is achieving is concentrating the wealth and fewer and fewer hands.

You have an extremely commendable moral compass @lazy farmer
