Yes quite a bit heavier with the wet brakes than the 135. Also 8 inches longer like a 148. Ours sometimes feels under powered.

msheep66 I'm going to view one this week in the hope of buying and just trying to get as much information as possible. Looking for an upgrade on the 135 for a small holding and fancied a more comfortable cab and power steering and the heavier backend would also be useful!

What sort of mph do you get on the road?
There is no pick up hitch on this one, would a puh from a 165 for instance fit okay?
Are the rear hubs the same size as those on a 165?
Do they have independent pto or dual stage clutch?

Ours is a multipower so its quite quick on the road 21mph I woiuld think but standard box is 8 speed would do about 18mph.
Yes I would think a puh from a 165 would fit
Hubs off a 165 would be the same certainly the last of the 165s
Ours has an independent pto I believe all 250s had same.

I always feel mine is underpowered perhaps running the power steering and the heavier backend ? The front tyres need changing to heavier ply ones and to get the best out of it a bit of weight on the front on the front helps .Mine was to replace a 35x but kept the old one which overall if you dont mind the lack of cab is a better tractor .I have done 5500 hrs on the 250 been no trouble

So i went to see a 250 (actually a 20e painted over) and it was pretty rough. The hydraulics and pto werent working and the steering was heavy with lots of play. Is there much to go wrong with the hydraulics, the owner reckoned it was a handy clean of the filter? And would it take much to overhaul the steering?

If you have to internal on the hydraulics, it might cost a bit ..........
Filter it would still work especially at the beginning, then die off as it was used?
Steering, well you can see the bits needed, might have a tight kingpin, but that's being optimistic.

Pull him down well on the price or let him do the "handy" stuff before making a deal.

No response in the arms, he says he shook hay in the summer and they started to slow up a bit but he reckons he can get it sorted. I think he's being optimistic.

The steering was terrible, felt like there was no assistance whatsoever and the wander across the road was shocking.

It also needed a bit of heat to start and there was plenty of black smoke but the engine was very responsive when I had it out.

Back tyres are original, have decent grip but are cracking. Front the same.

Parts of the flat sheet of the cab would need cut out and replaced and some parts of the interior cladding over the gearbox is missing as well as the roof section.

Looking £4800.
