yes if it has had an alternator fitted then it will need an on position so not sure if you will get a back plate

Twist the key left for heat and start, right for just plain start. Think I got my switch from either Acorn tractor spares or Silverfox, it may even have been Mayhill tractor spares, certainly one of the 3!!!
It's had an alternator conversion so guessing it will now have a switch with an on position

ah!!! Missed that bit!! Maybe have a look at 165 or suchlike, guess the faceplates/switch would be sorted for running with an alternator.
still wont have an on position though

Surely the backplate pictured is correct?
Key normally sits at the 'O' (I think of it as OFF) position.
Turn slightly left (not a click position) to the 'H' or Heat position.
Turn all the way left for the 'H-S' or Heat and Start position.
Turn key right from the O position for a summer start to the 'S' position.
But mine isn't an FE35 so maybe they're different.
