Having once attempted to jack my car up on someones drive only to find the jack went through the"drive" and the car stayed on the ground, I carry a few large bits of wood to put under the jack.
I had to change a back wheel on this at the side of the A12, with this actual load on. I wouldn't have wanted to see the state of the sill if I'd used it as a jacking point rather than the axle.

Ordered a replacement Lucas ignition switch for the DB780.

Five minute replacement job, I thought. But no, the hole in the dash is bigger than it should be for the new switch and the spade connectors on the back are three different sizes instead of one size as per the original. An later hour it's fitted but after having to fit new spade sockets on the wiring and find a big washer to fill the hole in the dash. A bit of a bodge but it works.

Why oh why did they have to change the design of such a simple and basic piece of equipment? Maybe the terminal sizes needed upgrading but why couldn't the bit that fits through the hole in the dash have been the same size from day one until eternity?

People who don't pay up. After 3 months your patience runs out. You go to their office, present them with an invoice and they say they will pay immediately by BACS. I didn't actually stand over them but needless to say nothing has arrived in my account, so they will be getting another visit.

People who stretch my goodwill. You sell them something then they say they cant move it immediately and ask if you can store it for them for months on end.

The above seems to happen more and more.

I make a habit of paying bills as they come in. Its only reasonable to do that IMO. Its their money. Pay it to them. If you want a loan, go to the bank.

Rant over.

Yesterday's tranquillity was broken by the fox botherers with noisy trumpet, quad bike, yapping dogs, and horsey women shouting " keep off the corn " , whilst trampling all over the corn.......
Today's tranquillity has been broken by 3 noisy turds riding round and round on motorbikes......

Sigh.
