Had a Dairy Crest farm standards audit today. Anyone who treats the cows with antibiotics must have been on one of these courses by 31 March 2019. It's in section 3. Mandatory p12 fifth box down.

its typical, drop the milkprice, and for good measure, lets give them some more paperwork.
yes ,all these things are good, but they keep giving us more to do, so they can get more for their product, but we don't seem to get any benefit!

Genuinely cant believe your complaining about a milk price at least 2p higher than anyone else on a conventional contract in the uk ! And you can manipulate it much higher!

This is the problem, all the time the jobs getting more and more work, more and more time, and for what yep you guessed it less reward. I'm not fed up with the job not just yet anyway, technology is helping me cope with all this extra stuff, but I do feel my job is changing.

Any other bits to be aware of? have you been on a course?

Haven't been on a course yet, but booked on one next week. Your area rep from Dairy Crest should come out to give you a pre audit. Not to onerous. Section 5 is a taste of what is come. Starting to get twitchy about housed cows. Marks and Spencer were shocked that some of Dairy Crest's suppliers house their cows all year round.

I was getting 25p/l in 96, and today our milk price is 29.8 ppl, this is going to reduce to 28.8 ppl 1 jan.
we do not know how low it will go this time, I think 1p a month till apr when seasonality kicks in.
and yes, we can, and do, manipulate the milk solids, and are running about 2.5p above our base. the fall
may not happen, what I was complaining about was the amount of paperwork compared to 1996 when I started on my own, nothing has helped us to pay for that!
and, if you remember, every one was telling us it wouldn't go below 25p, and it was only a temporary drop last time the price was cut. so I am afraid I will complain about the extra paperwork we are going to have to do, coupled with price reductions
