Not bothering, nobody there.
Not true. Ok, 4/5 tractor brands aren’t there, but is that the only reason you would go to a show? Indoor for a Jan event is absolute sense, but unfortunately the NEC has that “ring of expense” about it, but not for visitors. It’s dissapointing that some “big guns” are missing, but they have huge costs with Sima and Agritechnica both on next year I guess. Perhaps had Lamma moved to an every other year show, it may have garnered more support, but I suspect that the NEC only accept annual bookings.

Large brands can be seen at any time, On your phone or at the local dealer, and you can get the demo's when you want. A lot of the time its the small to medium business's who know the market, that supply new innovative products to the market. Large business's take this new innovative product and make there own version, Take a look at the sprayer market for the perfect example

It's not the major tractor brands that I want to see, but the hundreds of one man bands who used to lurk in the tents that will have been priced out of the new Lamma. Personally can't see it surviving, great days in the past, isn't this 'Smithfield' week?

Ok, misunderstood you. Yeh, I think this is “Smithfield week”. Good memories of Earls Court which is no longer!

This is unfortunately the problem. Plenty of visitors say they want it inside. They then say they don't want to pay to get in. The extra cost has to be met somewhere so smaller guys can't justify the cost of exhibiting, and some larger companies too. Then everyone sits back and say they won't go because no one is there, it will fail and then give themselves a pat on the back for predicting it if it does.
If you want the small guys to attend then go every year and make it a show they can't afford not to be at.

I expect the location & venue will bring Contractors farmers, but some more decision makers in Agri business's, Peterborough was a good venue, The Newark site definitely had the best atmosphere about it, Never attended the original site but thats back in the day.

I’m looking forward to it

Croptec was a massive success a couple of weeks ago (best show of the year imo). And lamma at the NEC should just be a bigger version of it in a much better venue with much better transport links and hotels surrounding it

Frankly anyone who thinks a move to the nec is a backward step compared to a wet outdoor windy venue in January really isn’t thinking things through !

Give it a chance, it might just surprise

New 6m GD drill to be unveiled at LAMMA 2019 by no-till leaders Weaving

Weaving’s Trailed GD6001T drill makes cost-saving no-till systems accessible for more arable farmers.

Weaving will be unveiling its new 6m version of the no-till Weaving GD Drill at LAMMA 2019 - with the first view of the machine exclusively in Hall 20 on Stand 20.750. The GD6001T is being kept under wraps until day one of LAMMA, as Weaving continue to celebrate over 20 years of constructing no-till drills.

The new drill is a compact version of the GD8000T launched at Cereals 2018 and has been manufactured to meet customer demand for an operator friendly compact drill with easier setup that preserves soil structure and aids crop establishment. Key to this is a change to the coulter weight distribution – the tank is now over the coulters, allowing the coulter to be much closer to the tractor, so operators can monitor their work with greater ease.

The drill is designed for zero-tillage systems but works within conventional cultivation systems for farmers who wish to implement low disturbance farming. Everyday usage is also boosted by tighter turning, enabled by a linkage mounted drawbar and wheels installed on the back, rather than the middle.

The slicker, more efficient machine is also available in a 4 and 4.8 metre version for smaller farms.

Interest in no-till and low disturbance farming has significantly increased after Michael Gove, Environment Secretary, spoke of possibly incentivising farms to adopt no-till farming through subsidies after Brexit. Many farmers have also noted the cost savings granted by low disturbance farming in diesel, wearing parts and drilling time – all while maintaining a healthy crop and boosting soil structure.

“Weaving aims to make conservation agriculture simple,” says Simon Weaving, Sales Manager at Weaving. “The GD6001T drill puts powerful low disturbance features into a compact and modern piece of machinery, including variable seed rate and isobus controls. With farmers understanding they need to improve soil health and increase worm population, the new drill offers more compact machines while featuring wider widths – all while keeping the farmer in control of their farm, their soil health, and their bottom line.”

Visit Weaving on Stand 20.750 in Hall 20 at LAMMA 2019 on 8th and 9th January at the NEC, Birmingham.
